Beulah E. Baumbach

SHREVEPORT, La Beulah E. Baumbach died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Louisiana Medical Center in Shreveport. She was 80.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Major and Dovie Butler Benefield; a daughter, Patricia Nevels; two brothers, Quinn Benefield and Charles Benefield; and a sister, Vera Lawrence.

Ms. Baumbach is survived by three sons, Alvin Handley of Avondale, La., Johnny Handley of Slidell, La., and James Baumbach of Algiers, La.; two daughters, Linda Meyers of Slidell and Angela Baumbach of Gretna, La.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tyler Chapel in Brookhaven with the Rev. Malcolm Massey, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Union Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Tyler Chapel from noon Sunday until the service.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Etta King Nichols

Etta King Nichols died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Natchez Regional Hospital in Natchez. She was 82.

Ms. Nichols was born in Jefferson County to George and Rosie Liggins King. She was a member of the mother board at Jessamine Ridge Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Nichols was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Nichols Sr.; a son, Felix Nichols; and a daughter, Earlene Nichols.

She is survived by her two sons, Jessie Nichols Jr. of Fayette and Summit Nichols of Baton Rogue; seven daughters, Teresa Malone, Carrie Colenburg, Lauretta Humes, Etta Nichols and Rosie King, all of Fayette, Frances Smith of Roxie and Shirley Nichols of Vicksburg; two brothers, Lawrence King of Fayette and Williams Nichols of Chicago; a sister, Maggie young of Chicago; 44 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jessamine Ridge Baptist Church in Lorman with the Rev. James Dorsey, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Jessamine Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Rollins Funeral Home chapel from noon today until 4 p.m.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Marion Jayne Woods

Marion Jayne Woods died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 80.

Miss Woods was born in Memphis to Key and Mabel Day Woods. She attended schools in Vicksburg before attending Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain. She served as educational secretary at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg and worked as a secretary at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson from 1957 to 1997. She served under six pastors during that time.

Miss Woods headed a project to turn a former pastors’ residence into a home for missionaries. The home was named the Jayne Woods Mission House in honor of her efforts.

Survivors include a brother, Harry K. Woods of Vicksburg; niece Julie W. Tillotson, also of Vicksburg; two nephews, Paul Woods of Sardis and David Woods of Austin, Texas; two great-nieces and three great-nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodland Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Fuller B. Saunders and Dr. James Scirratt, pastors, officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Green Acres Memorial Park in Vicksburg with Dr. John G. McCall conducting the service.

Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. Sunday until 5 p.m..

Pallbearers will be Jerry Norman, Patrick Norman, Tim Hamblin, David Woods, Paul Woods, Davis Woods, Rick Tillotson, Neil Tillotson and Stephen Tillotson.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Woodland hills Baptist Church, Dr. Phillip Ley, Dr. Louis Puneky and Dr. Tammy Young.

Memorials may be made to the Jayne Woods Mission House, Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 3327 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS 39216.
