Mary Bendinelli Denton

ROLLING FORK Mary Bendinelli Denton died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital. She was 94.

A native of Vicksburg, Mrs. Denton had been a resident of Rolling Fork for the past 50 years. She was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Anguilla, where she served as secretary and treasurer of the Altar Society. She had owned and operated Denton’s Variety Store in Rolling Fork for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Inman Denton; three brothers, Frank Bendinelli, Johnnie Bendinelli and Thomas Bendinelli; and four sisters, Rose Bendinelli, Felecia Ganzerella, Carmella Bendinelli and Frances Costa.

Survivors include a brother, D.B. Bendinelli of Medford, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with the Revs. James O’Riordan and Martin Ruan officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight, followed by rosary, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers will be John Coccaro, Donald Durst Jr., Wade Bendinelli, Trey Bendinelli, Willie Maranto and Russell Mahalitc.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Ludwig, Joe Ludwig, Dr. Danny Jackson, Ralph Bendinelli and Dr. Daniel Edney.

Everette Merrill Hynum Sr.

BAYTOWN, Texas Everette Merrill Hynum Sr. died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at his home. He was 61.

A native of Pattison, Mr. Hynum had been a longtime resident of Baytown, Texas. He was a retired pipefitter and was involved with Central Little League Baseball for 19 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Delores Hynum of Baytown; two sons, Everette Hynum Jr. of Dayton, Texas, and Derrick Hynum of Baytown; two daughters, Ouida Ikerman of Alton, Ill., and Audrea Hynum of Baytown; three sisters, Kathy Pierce of Delta, Judy Worley of Jackson and Patsy Barlow of Hazlehurst; a brother, Aubrey Hynum Jr. of Pattison; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Beech Grove Baptist Church in Pattison with the Rev. Gage Hynum officiating. Burial will follow at Hynum Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight and Thursday until the service at the church.

Manie Johnson

Services for Manie Johnson will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Service.

Mr. Johnson died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at his home. He was 76.

A resident of Vicksburg, he was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Shipley’s and retired from Busby Arizona General Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Johnson and Lillie Mae Copeland Woodson; a brother, Clarence Johnson; a sister, Lillie B. Woodson; and a daughter, Patricia Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was survived by his wife, Mary Johnson of Vicksburg; a daughter, Cynthia Moore, also of Vicksburg; four brothers, Johnnie Woodson of Cleveland, Ohio; Patrick Leon Woodson, Bert Woodson and Joe Woodson, all of Vicksburg; seven sisters, Roberta Stamps, Alberta Wildee, Ruby Jackson, Zelma Lee Woodson, Doris Jean Lee, Juanita Byrd and Georgia Wilson; and four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Harold Dwight O’Neal

PIONEER, La. Harold Dwight O’Neal died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at his home in Pioneer, La. He was 59.

Mr. O’Neal was born in New Orleans. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Oak Grove.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris O’Neal.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Brown O’Neal of Pioneer; three sons, Darren Williams of Oak Grove, Justin O’Neal of Monroe and Stacy O’Neal of Benoit, Miss.; one daughter, Penny Best of Collierville, Tenn.; his father and stepmother, Harold and Lillie Bell O’Neal of Oak Grove; two brothers, Doug O’Neal of Hooks, Texas, and David O’Neal of Dallas; one sister, Debbie Bailey of Monroe; and other relatives, including Florine Brown of Delhi.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimbo Herring and Rick Aultman officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery in Forest, La.

Pallbearers will be Leon Frith, Scott O’Neal, Jonathan O’Neal, Gene Dye, Jack Marsh Jr. and Max Vaughn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Elliott, John Dukes, Charles Hayman, Archie Aultman, Wallace Posey, Bub Custer and John Warner.

Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove has charge of arrangements.

Pauline Marshall-Lee

UTICA Pauline Marshall-Lee, a resident of Utica, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.

Mrs. Marshall-Lee was born in Utica to the late Felix Marshall and Lizzie Beth Short-Marshall. She graduated from Coleman High School in Greenville and worked for a number of years as a nursing professional. She also worked at Mixon Elementary in Utica in the food-service program.

She was a longtime member of Temple Church of Christ of Holiness.

She is survived by her daughter, Bettye Bibbs of Memphis; two sons, Carl Winters of Pickens and Daryl Marshall of Clovis, N.M.; a sister, Joyce Fields of Tacoma, Wash.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Lena Marshall and Geraldine Howard of Utica.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica.

Visitation will be until 5 tonight at the funeral home.

Melody Renee Presley

Melody Renee Presley, infant daughter of David Allen Presley and Tammy Renee Stanley of Delhi, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004.

She was born in Jackson.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Charlie Warren and Barbara Presley of Delhi and Rita Pitts of Okeechobee, Fla.; and her maternal grandparents, Benny Stanley of Delhi and Theresa and Kenneth Tibbs of Winnsboro, La.

Memorial services were at 10 a.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Rev. Todd Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Newton Cemetery.
