Riley Sebastian Alvarez

DELHI Riley Sebastian Alvarez, infant son of Gino Cruz Alvarez and Kim King Alvarez of Delhi, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at Delhi Hospital.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandfather, Sebastian Cruz of Durango, Mexico; his maternal grandmother, Patsy King of Wisner, La.; his great-grandparents, Tony King of Gilbert, La., and Rita King of Dunn, La.; and his maternal great-great-grandmother, Gladys King of Gilbert.

Services were at 10 a.m. today at Faith Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.

Lillian Cleo Grant

OAK GROVE Lillian Cleo Grant died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at her home in Oak Grove. She was 77.

A lifelong resident of Oak Grove, Mrs. Grant was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Oak Grove High School and Draughans Business College in Jackson.

She retired from the West Carroll Parish Clerk of Courts Office after 32 years of service. She served as the parish’s chief deputy clerk of court and court reporter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Edgar Columbus Huff; two brothers, Earl Huff and Ersel Huff; and a daughter, Kellye Holmes.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Lewis E. Grant of Oak Grove; two sons, Kenneth E. Grant of Madison, Ala., and Wayne Grant of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, Milford Huff of Oak Grove and Leon Huff of Rocky Mount, N.C.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Byron Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be until 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Miller, Willie Aaron, Doug McIntosh, Paul Craig, Jessie Ard and Kiley Thames.

Daniel Bogard Buckley

Daniel Bogard Buckley died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 45.

Mr. Buckley was born in Rolling Fork to the late Arthur M. Jr. and Caroline Bogard Buckley. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity and attended St. Michael Catholic Church. He graduated in 1981 from Delta State University, where he served as vice president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and was a member of the DSU Alumni Association. He received a master’s degree from Mississippi College and was a graduate of Louisiana State University’s School of Banking.

Mr. Buckley was employed at Trustmark National Bank. He was affiliated with Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 7 and girls soccer and was a board member of the Child Abuse Prevention Center. He was a member of the United Way, Exchange Club, Ducks Unlimited and the Wild Turkey Federation.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Stegall Buckley of Vicksburg; a son, Jonathan Sellers of Vicksburg; a daughter, Alanna Buckley of Vicksburg; one brother, Arthur M. “Rice” Buckley III of Pensacola, Fla.; his stepmother, Jean Edwards of Leland; and other relatives, including Rita Stegall of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Revs. P.J. Curley and Michael Nation officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home with a wake service at 7.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Magee, Steve Burris, Clark Secoy, Sydney Meacham, Ben Avara, Bill Fulcher and Russell Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Trustmark National Bank, members of Boy Scout Troop No. 7, Andy Anderson, Bob Croisdale, Jim Magee, Ike Henry, Mark Daniels, John Titre, Jeff Talley, Charles McCabe, Tom McCabe and Jeff Borland.

Memorials may be made to the United Way or to St. Michael Catholic Church.
