Walter Cyrus Clark

Walter Cyrus Clark died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 90.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Clark was the son of the late Walter C. and Lucian “Ludie” Whitaker Clark. He was a master sergeant in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a warrant officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. He retired from Waterways Experiment Station in 1972 as a purchasing agent. He attended First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marge Clark of Vicksburg; a daughter, Cynthia C. Warriner of Vicksburg; a stepson, Robert D. Thornton of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Clinton with Dr. John G. McCall officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Anitria Neishon Gibson

PORT GIBSON Anitria Neishon “Nee Nee” Gibson died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 31.

A resident of Port Gibson, Miss Gibson was a member of Springhill M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Harrison Goldsberry Sr.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Loretta and Dennis Ryals of Port Gibson; her father, Eugene “Pee Wee” Gibson of Port Gibson; maternal grandmother, Rosie Lee Goldsberry of Port Gibson; paternal grandmother, Princess Lee Gibson of Port Gibson; paternal grandfather, Johnny Gibson of Rolling Fork; a brother, Tyree Eugene Gibson of Hermanville; a stepsister, Ashley Gines of Port Gibson; aunts and uncles; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Springhill M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Jonathan Hamlin officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday, with family hour from 6 until 7, at the funeral home and from noon Saturday until the service at the church.

Timothy Earl Hamilton Sr.

JACKSON Timothy Earl Hamilton Sr. died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in Holly Springs. He was 38.

Mr. Hamilton was born in Jackson. He moved with his family to California and attended Lone Star M.B. Church. He received a certificate in cabinetry and was employed in various jobs as a woodworker.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ollie Joe Grisby II, and Ollie Joe Grisby, who reared him.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Brown Hamilton; four sons, Timothy Earl Hamilton Jr. and Gregory Lynn Hamilton, both of Ohio, Lamar Nathan Earl Hamilton and Lamar Hamilton, both of California; four daughters, Timqueta Shane Hamilton and Tahijia Michelle Hamilton, both of Ohio, and LaKeisha Hamilton and Schnecka Lynn Hamilton, both of California; his mother, Josie Mae Grisby of Tennessee; his father, Nelson Hamilton Jr.; three brothers, James Edward Lee, Harold Lee Hamilton and Nelson Earl Hamilton, all of California; four sisters, Patricia Dian Bond and Lorie Hamilton Neal, both of Tennessee, and Loretta Hamilton and Bridgette Grisby, both of California; his grandmother, Tomotlis Hamilton; two grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Westhaven Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will follow at Strawbridge Cemetery in Utica.

Vernon D. Hilliard

PEORIA, Ill. Vernon D. Hilliard died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. He was 45.

A former Port Gibson resident, Mr. Hilliard was a resident of Peoria and a member of Garden Prayer M.B. Church in Broadview, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Myles Jr.; a brother, Vernon Harris; a daughter, Latoya Williams; a grandfather, the Rev. Joe Hill; and a grandmother, Lillie Myles.

Survivors include his mother, Josie M. Harris; his grandmother, Berdie Hilliard; five daughters, Camille Hilliard, Erica Hilliard, Patrice Hilliard, Katrina Evans and Coranisha Williams, all of Peoria; two sons, Maurice Williams and Brandon Hilliard, both of Peoria; three sisters, Veronica Harris, Valerie Harris and Kizzie Harris; three brothers, Victor Harris, Vincent Harris and Derrick Harris; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Johnny Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Roswell Irving Jr.

EDWARDS Services for Roswell “Toada” Irving Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bonner Campbell College in Edwards. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Church Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday, with family hour from 6 until 7, at the funeral home.

Mr. Irving died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 73.

He was a resident of Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Roswell “Jack” Irving Sr. and Marie Donaldson Irving; and a brother, Embry Irving.

Survivors include a son, Kelvin Irving of Edwards; two daughters, Carla Forte of Vicksburg and Norma “Lynn” Irving-King of Horn Lake; a brother, Dr. William Irving of Augusta, Ga.; and four sisters, Minnie Ruth Morman of Chicago, Lovella Williamson of Tuskegee, Ala., Velma Frizzle of Omaha, Neb., and Roberta Irving-Taylor of Edwards.
