Peter James Moore

Peter James Moore died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 52.

Born in Pocatello, Idaho, Mr. Moore had lived in Reedport, Ore., before moving to Vicksburg 5 1/2 years ago. He worked in the computer department at International Paper.

He is survived by his wife, Laura S. Moore of Vicksburg; three sons, Anthony James Moore of Yreka, Calif., Shane Lee Moore of Hauser, Ore., and James K. Moore of Utica; two daughters, Robin Belinda Moore and Tabatha Lea Moore, both of Vicksburg; a brother, David A. Moore of California; a sister, Leila Marie Moore of Coos Bay, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be at 6 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Dunaway officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 tonight until the service at the funeral home.

Samuel L. Ross

LOS ANGELES Samuel L. Ross died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in Los Angeles. He was 75.

Mr. Ross was born in Vicksburg and was a resident of Los Angeles.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Ross of Los Angeles; one daughter, Gwendolyn Jordan of Los Angeles; two sons, Victor Ross and Steven Ross, both of Los Angeles; a brother, Frank Ross of California; a sister, Lutressa Ross of California; six grandchildren; and members of the Joe Wilson family of Vicksburg.

Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness in Los Angeles. Burial followed at Inglewood Park Cemetery.

Mary Lee Sandidge

TALLULAH Mary Lee Sandidge died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at The Olive Branch Senior Care Center. She was 90.

Born in Enterprise, La., Mrs. Sandidge was a resident of Tallulah. She was a homemaker and a member of Little Creek Baptist Church in Epps.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt Clinton Sandidge; her parents, Andrew Pittman and Lorena Holmes Pittman; four sons, Everett Wayne Sandidge, Kenneth Dale Sandidge, Eldon Kirby Sandidge and Glenn Edwin Sandidge; and two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include a son, Walter Harold Sandidge of Pioneer; two sisters, Myra Oliphant of Delhi and Vermell McPherson of Benton, La.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Lofton officiating. Burial will follow at Epps Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Darryl Sandidge, Jeff Sandidge, Jason Sandidge, Kenneth “Bo” Sandidge, Terry Tolar and Robert Tolar.

Bertie Mae Smith

ST. JOSEPH Bertie Mae Smith died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.

Mrs. Smith was a resident of St. Joseph.

Survivors include two sons, Nicky O’Neal Smith of Dublin, Ga., and Victor Ronnie Smith of Vicksburg; a daughter, Debbie Johnson of Bentonia; a sister, Mary Shows of Delhi; three brothers, Floyd Bradley of Delhi, Billy Bradley of St. Joseph and Robert Bradley of Crowville, La.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro, La., with the Rev. Troy Dennard officiating. Burial followed at Crowville Masonic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Neal Smith, Jan Phillips, Brian Allen, Tom Hendricks, Jeff Johnson and John Mark Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Smith, Jerry Smith, Raymond Smith and Bryan Pratt.
