[11/13/04] Patrice Johnson came off the Vicksburg High bench Tuesday night and made quite an impact.

Johnson scored eight points, including four straight free throws in overtime, to lift the Missy Gators to a 58-47 overtime win at Greenville.

The Missy Gators (3-2) were hampered with fouls all night, but came through in overtime holding the Honey Bees scoreless.

Rachel Jenkins scored a game-high 14 points and Cre’Tarsha Taylor netted 11.

“It’s hard to come up here and win,” Coleman said of the trip to the Delta. “This is the first time I have ever won at Greenville.”

VHS took a 5-point lead into the fourth quarter before Greenville knotted the game at 47, sending the game into an extra period.

Vicksburg is scheduled to host Collins on Thursday at 6 p.m.

(G) WC 44, Hazlehurst 43

Cookie Johnson’s hoop off an assist from Carla Latham with 10 seconds to go gave Warren Central its second win in as many games against Hazlehurst.

Latham led the Lady Vikes (3-1) with 17 ponts and Brittany Willis scored eight.

“They had a great crowd that really got into the game, and they were able to handle our press,” WC coach Donny Fuller said.

WC is scheduled to host Port Gibson on Thursday at 6 p.m.

(G) Riverside 52, St. Al 39

Sarah Kerut and Elizabeth Mazzanti each scored 11 points, but St. Aloysius could not overcome an 11-point halftime deficit on Monday. The Lady Flashes fell to 0-1.

(B) Riverside 76, St. Al 58

Marsh Willis scored 25 points, Chase Smith netted 13 and Chris Johnson scored 12 in the Flashes first loss of the season.
