Nora Mae Erves

Nora Mae “Mama” Erves died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. She was 67.

Mrs. Erves was a retired cook and was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Erves was preceded in death by her father, John Roderick Kelly.

She is survived by four sons, John Henry Kelly of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Caled “Cato” Erves, Lee Anthony Erves and Dennis Ray Erves, all of Vicksburg; three daughters, Shirley Erves of Nairobi, Kenya, Mary Meeks and Jessica Erves of Vicksburg; her mother, Elnora Brown Kelly of Vicksburg; three brothers, Walter Kelly and Caleb “C.B.” Kelly, both of Vicksburg, and James Kelly of Chicago; one sister, Johnnie Mae Kelly of Chicago; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Thomas W. Scott

Thomas W. Scott died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 81.

Mr. Scott was born in Pattison and was retired as a forklift operator from Georgia-Pacific in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he lived for 52 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lenora Edwards Scott; his wife, Maggie Scott; and one sister, Willie B. Scott.

He is survived by two stepsons, Freddy Harris of Grand Rapids and Jerry Harris of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two brothers, Johnnie C. Scott of Vicksburg and Bob E. Scott of Chicago; one sister, Elsie Mae Scott of Vicksburg; six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; nieces; and nephews.
