Thomas Franklin Berry

OAK GROVE Thomas Franklin Berry died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove. He was 90.

Born in Forest, La., Mr. Berry was a resident of Oak Grove. He was a farmer, mechanic and welder.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, where he was a deacon for 50 years. He also served on the West Carroll Parish police jury for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Scott Berry and Frankie Mae Dye Berry; three brothers, James Berry, C.H. “Pete” Berry and Bernis Berry; and two sisters, Lillian Jones and Ollie Hall.

Survivors include his wife, Oree Berry of Oak Grove; two sons, Tom Berry of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Scotty Berry of Oak Grove; three daughters, Edna Tatum of Bastrop, La., Brenda Herrington of Oak Grove and Dot Johnson of Summit; one brother, J.S. “Junior” Berry of Oak Grove; two sisters, Etta Pittman of Oak Grove and Maynell Whitney of Jonesboro, Maine; and 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Oak Grove with Drs. James Parker and Jeff Jinks officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery in Forest.

Visitation will be until 9 tonight at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.

Pallbearers will be Tony Berry, Dennis Berry, Steve Berry, Edward Berry, Bennie Hall, David Hall, Jackie Jones and Mike Berry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Hughes, Berry Wayne Edmonson, Kiley Thames and Lavelle “Big Boy” Fallin.

John F. Dundas

John F. Dundas died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at River Region Medical Center. He was 84.

Born in Vicksburg to the late Henry and Linda Wyatt Dundas, Mr. Dundas had lived in California before returning to Vicksburg. He was a graduate of Tallulah High School and was a Marine Corps veteran, having served in World War II from 1942 until 1947. He was an executive with the B.F. Goodrich Company before his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Nell Butler Dundas; and a brother, Robert Dundas.

He is survived by several cousins, including Jim Hill of Lake Bruin and Ida Fay Hardy of San Antonio, Texas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

James C. McClain

LORMAN James C. McClain died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident. He was 56.

Mr. McClain was a native of Jackson and had lived in Lorman for the past 11 years. He had been employed at Dukes Air Condition for the past 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Lillie Mae McClain.

He is survived by his wife, Patti McClain of Lorman; a son, James Bryan McClain of Brandon; a stepson, Brad Mitchell Moore of Memphis; one brother, William Boyd McClain of Columbia, Mo.; and other relatives, including Matthew Greer of Lorman.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.

Moses Moses Jr.

Moses Moses Jr. died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at River Region West. He was 80.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Moses was the son of the late Moses Sr. and Dorothy Azar Moses. He was a 1943 graduate of Carr Central High School and was an Army veteran, having served in World War II.

He owned and operated Moses Grocery for more than 50 years and had been employed with Sack and Save and Thomas Furniture. He was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Sadka; a brother, Johnny Moses; and a son, Kenny Moses.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jessie Moses of Vicksburg; a daughter, Trudy Moses of Terrytown, N.Y.; two sisters, Margaret Moses of Vicksburg and Georgette Petro of Leland; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Very Rev. John W. Morris, pastor of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
