Nellie McCaffrey Hale

Nellie McCaffrey Hale died today, Dec. 7, 2004, at River Region West Campus. She was 87.

Mrs. Hale was a Hattiesburg native and had lived in Vicksburg since 1938. She retired from the Corps of Engineers as a file clerk and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terrell Allen Hale; two sons, Gene P. Hale and Brian Allen Hale; her parents, Thomas Patrick and Pinkie Priscilla McCaffrey; three brothers, Emmett Lee McCaffrey, Francis Clyde McCaffrey and Patrick Street McCaffrey; and four sisters, Willie Mae Buckle, Melissa Magdalen Hopkins, Susan Eulanie Baker and Pinkie Patricia McCaffrey.

Survivors include a son, Darryl F. Hale of Vicksburg; a daughter, Judith H. McCollum of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Rosary at 7.

Pallbearers will be Darryl Hale II, Mike Ervin, Pat McCaffrey Jr., Birchett Hopkins, Greg McCaffrey, Alton McCaffrey, Charles Gardner, Paul Sellers and Charles Marshall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dan Edney, Lena Nickerson, Charlene Jones, Ruby Brown, Phyllis Hamberlin, Linda Washington and Mary Butler.

Christine Pittman

Christine Pittman died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at her home. She was 66.

Mrs. Pittman was a retired cook.

Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Lucille F. Ryals

Lucille F. Ryals died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Vicksburg. She was 80.

A native of Huntsville, Ala., Mrs. Ryals had lived most of her life in Vicksburg. She retired as a clerk for the Corps of Engineers in 1987. She was a member of the Fidilas Sunday School Class at Bowmar Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ryals; a son, Alvin Phelps Jr.; her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Greer Flanagan; and three sisters, Rosella Free, Susan Thompson and Hazel Brown.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Ables and Janet Parker, both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Brown, Richie Ables, Leon Thompson, Janice Parker, Bobby Brogdon and Donnie Heggins.

Memorials may be made to the Bowmar Baptist Church Building Fund, 1825 U.S. 61 South, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Ruth Taylor Goode Stinger

LAKE JACKSON, Texas Ruth Taylor Goode Stinger died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was 86.

Mrs. Stinger was a native of Vicksburg and a resident of Lake Jackson.

She is survived by two daughters, Audrey Matherne of Lake Jackson and Roseanne Tate of Angleton, Texas; a son, Walton Goode of Tomball, Texas; a sister, Edna Earle Florelle Otis of Vicksburg; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
