Leonard Carter

Services for Leonard Carter will be at 1 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. Cartha McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.

Mr. Carter died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was 84.

Formerly of Chicago, he was a member of Hopewell M.B. Church. He was an Army veteran and was a retired mechanic for Amtrak. He was a resident of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Carter and Esther Cooper.

Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Elmore-Carter of Vicksburg; a son, Curtis Carter of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Ethel Elmore of Vicksburg and Edward Cooper of Chicago.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.

Michael Anthony Jackson

Services for Michael Anthony Jackson will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s Center with the Rev. R.T. Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Sunday until the service at St. Mary’s Center.

Mr. Jackson died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Methodist Rehabilitation Center. He was 42.

A resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Jackson was a MAP area support coordinator and a member of the Esquire Club, Willing Workers Club and Calvary M.B. Church, where he served on the usher board.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Smith; his grandparents, Josh and Flora Jackson; and a grandson, Korice Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Ransom Jackson of Vicksburg; three sons, Korey R. Jackson of Memphis, Marvin Jackson of Kokomo, Ind., and Michael D. Jackson of Vicksburg; five daughters, Anna Ransom, Quantina Ransom, Flonice Jackson, Kortney Jackson and Antane’ Jackson, all of Vicksburg; his father, Doc Hall Sr. of Vicksburg; two sisters, Tammy Jackson of Vicksburg and Idella Hall of Eudora, Ark.; and two brothers, Doc Hall Jr. of Yapoloosa, Mich., and Cleotha Hall of Vicksburg.

Billy J. Lovett

Services for Billy J. Lovett will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Ruth Pugh, pastor of Bible Holiness Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lovett died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at Select Specialty Hospital at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 71.

A native and lifelong resident of Warren County, Mr. Lovett was the son of the late Billy Cody and Pearl Rogers Lovett. He retired as a dispatcher for the Vicksburg Water and Gas Company after 18 years of service. He was a member of Bible Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Odeal Holmes Lovett of Vicksburg; a daughter, Melanie Feltcher of Biloxi; two sons, Stephen Lovett of Vicksburg and David Lovett of Gulfport; two sisters, Francis Dement of Mena, Ark., and Elizabeth Townsend of Hattiesburg; a brother, Lawrence Lovett of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Everett Gladwell, Stanley Mullens, David Gladwell, Rex Smithey, Charles Tate and Joshua Pugh.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Crist and Nathan Skipworth.

Callie M. Peacock

FOREST, La. Callie M. Peacock died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was 86.

Mrs. Peacock was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Peacock; her parents, James Miram and Susie Morse; a brother, Charlie Morse, and two sisters, Faye Morse and Lenora Peacock.

She is survived by two daughters, Margie Anderson of Oak Grove and Lavenda Schriefer of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Archie Morse of Oak Grove, Glenn Morse of Amite, La.; three sisters, Hazel Davis of Oregon, Winnie Morse of San Francisco and Louise Taylor of Linden, Texas; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Forest Corner Church of God under with the Rev. John Jenkins and the Rev. Paul Ninemire officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Corner Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Garry Jones, T.J. Peacock, Joey Jones, Kenny Peacock, Reagan Jones and Randy Clark.
