Willie Buck Sr.
HERMANVILLE Willie Buck Sr. died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson. He was 81.
Mr. Buck was a member and deacon at King David Christian Church in Hermanville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dule Sr. and Mariah Wren Buck and Letha Wilson-Goods; two daughters, Sandra Jean Buck and Iris Elaine Buck; one son, Kelvy Clayton-Buck; a brother, Dule Buck Jr.; and a sister, Hattie Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Buck of Hermanville; nine sons, Jonas Patterson and Barney Patterson, both of St. Paul, Minn., Willie Buck Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., Dannie Buck of Port Orange, Fla., Melchie Buck of Dallas, Jackie Ray Buck of Port Gibson, Clayton T. Buck of Hermanville and Edward L. Buck and Elvis Buck, both of Jackson; three stepsons, Brady Howard and Sam E. Howard, both of Hermanville, and Arthur K. Howard of Vicksburg; three daughters, LaToya T. Buck of Hermanville, Lillie Patterson-Edwards of St. Paul and Paula L. Buck-Murray of Mobile, Ala.; a stepdaughter, Jeanette Howard of Hermanville; two brothers, Woodrow Buck and Harry Buck, both of Port Gibson; 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at King David Christian Church with the Rev. Percy Terrell officiating. Burial will follow at the Buck family cemetery in Hermanville.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home and Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service at the church.
Corey Rawlings
Corey Rawlings died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, from injuries received in a car accident. He was 23.
Mr. Rawlings was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Francis Rawlings Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Katie Rawlings; and his maternal grandmother, Alva Meekins Meeks.
Survivors include his mother, Willette Meekins Rawlings of Vicksburg; a daughter, Zarkeyia Deshauntae Northern of Tallulah; two sisters, LaTonya Michelle Meekins and Almeda Rawlings, both of Vicksburg; four brothers, Timothy Rawlings of Richmond, Va., and Charles A. Meekins, Christopher Rawlings and Clifton F. Rawlings, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Jeremy Meekins, Jarvis McDaniel, Jade McDaniel and members of the Darden and Meekins families, all of Vicksburg.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Marjorie Scott Walley
Services for Marjorie Scott Walley will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Patrick Farrell, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from noon until the service.
Mrs. Walley died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.
Born in Greenville, Mrs. Walley had been a Vicksburg resident most of her life. She attended St. Francis Xavier Academy and was a former employee of Westinghouse.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph B. Sr. and Annie Lane Scott; her husband, D.W. “York” Walley Sr.; a brother, John David Scott; a sister, Jane Scott Wiggins; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Walley.
Survivors include two sons, David W. Walley Jr. of Lawton, Okla., and Donald Keith Walley of Gales Ferry, Conn.; two sisters, JoAnn S. Knight of Brandon, Fla., and Belle S. Lauret of Baton Rouge; a brother, Joseph B. Scott Jr. of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Beverly Ann Wince
Beverly Ann Wince died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at her home. She was 48.
Mrs. Wince was a member of Greater Mount Lebanon Church and worked as a bus driver for the Vicksburg Warren School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Wince and Barbara Marshall Wince.
She is survived by two sons, Curtland Wince and Derrick Wince, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Pamela Wince of Covington, Ga., and Tamara Wince of Vicksburg; her brother, Troy Wince of Vicksburg; her sister, Wilma “Shantae” Wince of Vicksburg; and members of the Marshall, Pilate, Patterson and Wince families of Vicksburg.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
Ruth Smith Wylie
MONROE Ruth Smith Wylie died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was 88.
Born in Pelahatchie, Mrs. Wylie lived in Monroe and was a former Oak Grove resident.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady E. Wylie; a daughter, Winnie Ruth Miller; two brothers, Roy Smith and Leo Smith; a sister, Ada Wylie; and her parents, Duncan O’Brian Smith and Catherine Elizabeth Buckner Smith.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Earl Wylie of Monroe and Johnny Lee Wylie of Baytown, Texas; three daughters, Irene Fuller of Monroe and Jo Ann McGee and Barbara Jean Farris, both of West Monroe; one brother, Ray Smith of Benoit; one sister, Edna Robertson of Greenville; and 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. Milton Lenard officiating. Burial will follow at Kilbourne Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Wylie, Ronnie Wylie, Billy Ray Smith, Bobby Smith, Dub Dees and Eddie Smith.
