Jones A. Conrad
Jones A. “Budo” Conrad died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 78.
Mr. Conrad was a Vicksburg native and had lived in Redwood for the past 55 years. He retired as a welder from Waterways Experiment Station and was a veteran of the Navy.
He was a member of the VFW, W.H. Stevens Masonic Lodge No. 121, Persimmon Ridge Hunting Club and Redwood United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Opperman Conrad; a son, Jones A. “Jay” Conrad III; and two brothers, David C. “Kirk” Conrad and James Cecil Conrad.
Survivors include one son, Larry Conrad of Redwood; one daughter, Virginia A. Strickland of Brandon; two sisters, Annie Williams of Vicksburg and Emily Knight of Utica; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauren Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Strickland, Justin Conrad, Joe Opperman, Doug Jeter, Danny Ray Knight and David Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Kolb, George Hall, Deloris Forbes and Marie Shelby.
Mamie Faulkner Ellis
GREENVILLE Mamie Faulkner Ellis died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Delta Regional Medical Center. She was 84.
Mrs. Ellis had lived in Greenville for 65 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy M. Ellis.
She is survived by two daughters, Esther Ellis Eigenbrod of Greenville and Betty Ellis Ferrell of Vicksburg; one son, Guy M. Ellis Jr. of Collierville, Tenn.; two sisters, Grace Faulkner Cannon and Rose Faulkner Whittington Ellis, both of Greenville; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mortimer Funeral Home in Greenville with Bill Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mae Evelyn Irby
DELHI Mae Evelyn “Duck” Irby died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. She was 50.
Mrs. Irby was preceded in death by her father, Chester Oscho Irby.
She is survived by her mother, Lettie Mae Ella Irby of Delhi; a brother, Meyer J. Irby of Hammond, La.; two sisters, Treba Dorman of Delhi and Rachel O. Irby of Baton Rouge, La.; and three nephews, James Chas Dilley and Shelly Doorman, both of Delhi, and Joshua Edward Irby of Hammond.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Huey Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Delhi Masonic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Danny Boone, Dean Allen, Thomas Thornton, Ken McBride, Jay Wilson and Chris Thornton.
Alderine Weaver Moore
CARTHAGE Alderine Weaver Moore died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Choctaw Residential Center. She was 76.
A native of Scott County, Mrs. Moore was a resident of Carthage. She was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Bessie Weaver; her stepmother, Annie Mae Weaver; one brother, L.C. Weaver; and one sister, Paulette Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Brantley of Carthage and Ruby Boggan of Vicksburg; three brothers, Curtis Lee Weaver of Lena, Jimmy Dale Weaver of Kosciusko and Kenneth Wayne Weaver of Forest; two sisters, Lou Pace and Jeannie Craig, both of Forest; and four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage with the Revs. Frank Smith and David Addy officiating. Burial will follow at Cash Cemetery near Lena.
Pallbearers will be Ken Weaver, Josh Slay, Jerry Keever, Brad Johnson and David Clark.
Beverly Ann Wince
Services for Beverly Ann Wince will be at 11 a.m. today at Zion Travelers M.B. Church, 1701 Poplar St., with the Rev. Leonard Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.
Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mrs. Wince died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at her home. She was 48.
Mrs. Wince was a member of Greater Mount Lebanon Church and worked as a bus driver for the Vicksburg Warren School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Wince and Barbara Marshall Wince.
She is survived by two sons, Curtland Wince and Derrick Wince, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Pamela Wince of Covington, Ga., and Tamara Wince of Vicksburg; her brother, Troy Wince of Vicksburg; her sister, Wellma “Shantae” Wince of Vicksburg; and members of the Marshall, Pilate, Patterson and Wince families of Vicksburg.
