(B) Yazoo City 64, VHS 61

Lorenzo Newman’s basket with 17 seconds to play lifted Yazoo City to a come-from-behind win over Vicksburg.

VHS squandered a fourth-quarter lead, then committed a turnover with 20 seconds left and the score tied at 61. The miscue led to Newman’s go-ahead basket. The Gators had a chance to win it, but Sederick Williams missed a 3-pointer in the closing seconds and Newman hit a free throw to ice it.

Williams led VHS (11-11) with a game-high 21 points, Edwin Gaskin had 17 and Brandon Harper had 12. Newman scored 20 for Yazoo City, while Ronnie Tubbs had 18. Corey Cotton and Cornelius Jones each scored 10 points for Yazoo City.
