Warren Russell Asher Jr.
Warren Russell “Rusty” Asher Jr. died Jan. 18, 2005, at his home in Washington, D.C. He was 57.
Mr. Asher was born in Vicksburg and was a 30-year employee of the U.S. government, working for agencies including the Customs Service, Office of Personnel Management and the Office of the Vice President of the United States. His last job was as a media specialist for OPM.
Mr. Asher was preceded in death by his parents, Warren R. Sr. and Kate Hommel Asher.
He is survived by his brother, Lee D. Asher of Dallas, and one niece.
A memorial service was held in Washington, and private services at Cedar Hill Cemetery were officiated by the Rev. Clifton McInnis and Riles Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be to the Old Court House Museum.
Laura Jones Wilson
Laura Jones Wilson died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Belmont Gardens. She was 86.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Rosedale and lived in Vicksburg, where she was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Wilson Sr.; and her parents, Sydney Ross Jones and Lizzie Anderson Jones.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her son, Robert S. Wilson Jr. of New Orleans; her brother, Henry J. Jones of Florence, Ala.; her sister, Jean Degges of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott L. Reiber officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Monday until the service.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Westminster Presbyterian Church.
