Doris Odel Cook
Doris Odel Cook died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. She was 73.
A homemaker, Mrs. Cook was born in Delta City and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 45 years. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle David Cook; two brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Daryl Cook and Dennis Cook, both of Hawkins, Texas, and Dexter Cook of Big Sandy, Texas; two daughters, Delores Kinder of Price, Texas, and Donna Rosamond of Preston, Miss.; a sister, Erma Carroll of Pearl; two brothers, Robert Stafford of Tyler, Texas, and William Stafford of Mississippi; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Jessie Fields
UTICA – Jessie Fields died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 78.
Mr. Fields was a farmer and a resident of Utica.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Greater Zion Travelers Church in Utica. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Sunday at Westhaven Funeral Home in Utica.
Herbert Glynn Stewart
BRANDON – Herbert Glynn Stewart died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, in Matamoros, Mexico. He was 56.
Born in Jackson, Mr. Stewart graduated from Forest Hill High School where he was a member of the football team. He worked as an electrician, serving with Moses Electric, Dual Drilling and Rowan Drilling companies before attending Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis.
After completing his studies, he became pastor of the Clear View Baptist Church in Olive Branch. He later pastored at Magnolia Heights in Forest and Oakland Baptist Church in Vicksburg before moving to a church in Louisiana, where he retired five years ago.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Susan Matthews Stewart of Brandon; a son, Shane Stewart of Gretna, La.; a daughter, Lisa Comer of Brandon; his parents, Junius and Christine Pennington Stewart of Brandon; one brother, Gerald Stewart of Houston, Texas; one sister, Carolyn Collins of Brandon; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home, High Street, in Jackson. Burial will follow at Mendenhall Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. Monday until the service at the funeral home.
