Connie Braswell

TRANSYLVANIA – Connie Braswell died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Madison Parish Hospital. She was 90.

Mrs. Braswell was born in Milrey, Ala., and later moved to Transylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Davis and Lena Bridges; and her husband, John Henry Braswell.

Mrs. Braswell is survived by a son, Johnny Scott Braswell of Transylvania; a daughter, Helen Dale Bryant of Hohenwald, Tenn.; a brother, John A. Davis of Garibaldi, Ore.; three granddaughters; a grandson; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cox Chapel in Lake Providence with the Rev. Billy Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Cox Funeral Home from 2 to 9 tonight.

Pallbearers will be Gary Johns, Larry Knight, LaBane Clement, Buddy Fairchild, Lamar Williams and Nolan Tyson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Lee, Fred Boughton, Jimmy Lee McIntyre Jr. and Robert E. McIntyre.

Gloria Neal Ivy

Gloria Neal Ivy died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 48.

Mrs. Ivy was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Neal; her husband, George Ivy; two sisters and a brother.

She is survived by her mother, Georgia Neal of Vicksburg; three brothers, Jimmie Neal Jr., Phillip Neal and Dwayne Neal, all of Memphis; four sisters, Shirley Molette of Westchester, Ill.; Zelmarie Neal and Victoria Neal Thomas, both of Vicksburg, and Avion Lee of Zion, Ill.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until 6 p.m. Monday.

Joe Neal

Joe Neal died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 100.

Mr. Neal was born in Copiah County and had lived in Vicksburg for 78 years. He was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Willie Mae Campbell Neal, Eddie Lee Neal and Katherine Neal; and one daughter, Ola Mae Craig.

Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Jessie Neal of Vicksburg; a son, Henry Melvin Mack of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Rosa Sanders of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren; and other relatives, including Eugene Craig of Chicago and the Brown, Squire, Johnson, Backus, Jackson, Burks and John Neal families.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
