Jimmie Lou Applin

Jimmie Lou Applin died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was 64.

Mrs. Applin was born in Delhi, La., and had lived in Vicksburg for more than 22 years. She had lived in Jackson and Byram for the past 20 years. She retired in 1966 from the Clorox Company in Jackson. Mrs. Applin was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Burl Smith; her son, Jonathan Applin; and her brother, Wayne Smith.

Survivors include her daughter, Lora Applin of Redwood; her mother, Clara Mae Lawallin of Jackson; one sister, Cheryl Siroshton of Jackson; four brothers, James Davis, Tim Davis and Travis Smith, all of Vicksburg, and Albert Davis Jr. of Jackson; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Margaret Stien Chapman

DELHI – Margaret Stien Chapman died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at her home in Dallas. She was 87.

Ms. Chapman was born in Johns, Miss., and had lived in Delhi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward W. Chapman and Margie Chapman.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with Rev. Dennis Fontenot officiating. Burial will follow at Delhi Masonic Cemetery in Delhi.

Ruthie Jane Jackson

LAKE PROVIDENCE – Ruthie Jane Jackson died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at East Carroll Parish Hospital in Lake Providence. She was 68.

Mrs. Jackson was born in East Carroll Parish, La., and had lived in Lake Providence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Jackson; and her parents, Percy William Watkins and Annie Mae Watkins.

She is survived by three daughters, Robin Leird of Shawnee, Okla., Brenda Oliver of Clovis, Calif., and Rhonda Wiltcher of Oak Grove; two brothers, Charles Percy Watkins of Indianapolis and John H. Watkins of Winnsboro; three sisters, Mary Bell of Hot Springs, Ark., Evelyn Castilaw of Oak Grove and Erline Vickery of Lake Providence; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Elmwood Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Evans officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Monticello, La.

Pallbearers will be Morris Berthelot, Richard Castilaw, James Copes, Shelby Perry, Duane Sanders and Larry Vickery Jr.
