Porters Chapel’s Cinderella run through the Academy-A state tournament came to a grinding halt Thursday night.

Ty Singuefield scored 34 points as host Delta Academy crushed the Eagles 88-33 in the quarterfinals. It was the furthest a PCA boys team has ever advanced in the state tournament.

Allen Cassell had 14 points to lead PCA (15-15), which saw the game slip away in the second quarter. After entering the period trailing 18-8, Delta outscored the Eagles 23-5 in the next eight minutes to take a 41-13 halftime lead.

In the girls’ tournament, Tensas Academy clinched its second straight Overall berth with a 63-45 win over Rebul. Megan Bauerle had 26 points for Tensas (23-7), which plays host Delta tonight.
