Mary E. Clark

Mary E. Clark died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at River Region Medical Center. She was 69.

Mrs. Clark was born in Memphis and lived in Vicksburg for many years where she worked as a seamstress.

She is survived by her fiance, Bill Love of Vicksburg; five sons, Robert Hill Jr., and Steven Hill, both of St. Augustine, Fla., Ricky Hill and Randy Hill, both of Vicksburg, and Danny Hill of Marianna, Fla.; three daughters, Nancy Hill of Flagler Beach, Fla., Judith Allen of Orange Park, Fla., and Brenda Lee Moore of Yazoo City; one brother, William Grafton Lyle of Nashville; two sisters, Joyce Ehlers and Naomi Barrett, both of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Dessie Hall Hudson

Services for Dessie Hall Hudson will be at 10 a.m. today at the New Rock of Ages M.B. Church with the Rev. Michael Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the New Rock of Ages M.B. Church.

Mrs. Hall died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 74.

She worked for 32 years as a cook at Monsour’s Restaurant. She was a member of New Rock of Ages M.B. Church, Household of Ruth, Christian Benevolent Society, Grace Chapter No. 5 Order of Eastern Star, Martha Grand Chapter, Christian Union No. 1 and Christian Union No. 2.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Hudson Sr.; her parents, Floyd Hall Sr. and Lurlean Smith Hall; one daughter, Dan Ethel Youmans; three brothers, Elmo Hall, Johnny Hall and Percy Hall; and four sisters, Lurlean Brown, Annie Bell Hudson, Lucille Thomas and Rosetta Tolliver.

Survivors include one son, James A. Hudson Jr. of Seattle; five daughters, Authrine Brown and Janice M. McGee, both of Seattle, Jennie B. Hudson and Annie Grant, both of Brooklyn, and Peggy King of Jackson; and one brother, Floyd Hall Jr. of Vicksburg.

Doris Blount Paine

Services for Doris Blount Paine will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Caley Nichols and the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Acres Memorial Park.

Mrs. Paine died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Paine was a native of Laurel. She was the daughter of the late J.C. and Ruby Williams Blount. She was reared in Hattiesburg and was a resident of Vicksburg since 1952.

She worked as a beautician at Doris’ Beauty Shop in Clinton for 20 years. She also served as a licensed practical nurse for 26 years for Vicksburg Convalescent Nursing Home. For the past 12 years, she served as a school board member and secretary for Southside Christian School. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Rudolph E. Paine; and a brother, Benny Blount.

She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Coutch and Vickey White, both of Vicksburg; a brother, Buddy Darrell Blount of Hattiesburg; and three grandchildren, Jason Brown, Jenna Ferguson and Phillip Coutch.

Pallbearers will be Robert Hynum, Richard Hunt, Toby Jenkins, James Ray Andrews, Eric Kitchens and Reid Freeny.
