Edwin Earl Channell

GRAND GULF – Edwin Earl “Buddy” Channell died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 57.

Mr. Channell was a native of Copiah County. He lived in Port Gibson and worked at Southwest Electric Power Association in Lorman for 20 years. He was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church in Dentville.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Kay Channell of Grand Gulf; two daughters, Judy Channell and Feeby Channell, both of Grand Gulf; one son, Henry Earl Channell of Grand Gulf; one brother, J.W. Channell of Crystal Springs; two sisters, Bobbie Lott of Hattiesburg and Bertie May Brown of Richton; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 today at Glenwood Chapel in Port Gibson. Burial will follow at Pine Bluff Cemetery in Dentville.

Visitation will be today until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Dunn, Rocky Howard, Billy Howard, Johnny Lott, Buddy Roddey, David Cupit and Dale Williams.

Mary Nadine Grey

OAK GROVE – Mary Nadine Grey died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove. She was 36.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Edward Grey, and her stepfather, J.D. Stanley.

Survivors include her mother, Geraldine Stanley of Oak Grove; three brothers, George Edward Grey and Jay Stanley, both of Oak Grove, and Chris Grey of Forest, La.; one sister, Joy Malone of Oak Grove; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove with the Rev. J.D. Favors officiating. Burial will follow at Red Wing Cemetery in Oak Grove.

Visitation will be from 4 until 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Ollie S. Hill

HERMANVILLE – Ollie S. Hill died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Mary Wilson-Shorter; four sons, Amos Hill Jr., Billy Hill, Henry Hill and Lester Hill; three brothers, Jack Shorter, Roman Shorter and Wylie Marshall; and two sisters, Georgia Hicks and Fannie M. Shoulders.

Survivors include her husband, Amos Hill of Hermanville; two sons, Leslie Hill of Port Gibson and Sammie Lee Hill of Hermanville; an adopted son, Antonio Hill of Jackson; two daughters, Mary E. Doss of Vicksburg and Ollie M. Hill of Port Gibson; two brothers, Gill Shorter of Greenville and Matthew Shorter of Hermanville; five sisters, Martha Christian, Dorothy Jenkins, Lula Ella Johnson and Geraldine Shorter, all of Port Gibson, and Mary Spiller of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mary Catherine Ray

Mary Catherine “Kitty” Ray died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Ray was born in Vicksburg. She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy and a past president of the A Club. She was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society.

Mrs. Ray was a former member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray Lamar Price and Josie Freeman Price; her husband, Edward Brown Ray Sr.; one son, T.G. “Timmy” Ray; and four brothers.

Survivors include five daughters, Theresa R. Boykin and Donna R. Cobb, both of Vicksburg, Cathy Jo R. Edwards of Vaiden, Libby R. Flowers of Virginia Beach, Va., and Renee R. Mustin of The Woodlands, Texas; seven sons, Eddie Ray Jr., Larry Ray and Tommy Ray, all of Vicksburg, Bobby Ray of Valley Park, David Ray of Lumberton, Mike Ray of Memphis and Ricky Ray of Baton Rouge; one sister, Sarah Schertzer of Lumberton; 26 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

James H. Womack Jr.

LOCK PORT, La. – A memorial and dedication service for family and friends of James H. “Mack” Womack Jr. will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Lady of the Sea General Hospital in the Cut Off, La., community near Lock Port, La.

Mr. Womack died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at his home in Lock Port. He was 49.

Mr. Womack was born in Mer Rouge, La., and, in 1968, moved to Vicksburg where he worked at Vicksburg Medical Center. He was chief financial officer for Hospital Administrations.

He was a former member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Womack and Sara McCormack Womack.

He is survived by his wife, Tecia Womack; one son, Kolby Womack; two daughters, Ashley Womack and Sara Womack; two brothers, John Womack of Winchester, Va., and Randy Womack of Baton Rouge; his stepmother, Bess Womack of Vicksburg; two stepbrothers, Reagan Knight and Stuart Knight; and a stepsister, Betty Sue Thompson.
