Vanessa Russell Lynn

Services for Vanessa Russell Lynn will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Parish Center with the Rev. James Archer officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service and Saturday from noon until the service at St. Mary’s Center.

Mrs. Lynn died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 47.

Mrs. Lynn was a member of Bingham Memorial Baptist Church and was employed with Auto Zone Auto Parts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Russell Sr. and Annie Bell Russell; a brother, Wilbert Russell; and a sister, Ernestine Dobbins Ford.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Lynn of Vicksburg; three sons, Taurean Demond Russell of Tallulah, Cietrich Jovan Russell and Colby Smith, both of Vicksburg; one daughter, Anika La Trice Russell; a brother, James Russell Jr. of Converse, Texas; three sisters, Johnnie Russell of Pine Bluff, Ark., Carolyn Thomas and Sarah Russell, both of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends including members of the Harrison, Minor and Thomas families of Vicksburg and the Martin family of Utica.

Walter Lee Morrow

Services for Walter Lee Morrow will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Poplar Grove Independent Methodist Church with the Rev. James O. Bowman Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery in Edwards under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Morrow died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 56.

Mr. Morrow was born in Hinds County to Peter W. and Edna Clark Morrow. He was a member of New Poplar Grove Independent Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Clark Morrow; a brother, George Upson; and a sister, Alma Kinnard.

Survivors include his father, Peter W. Morrow of Edwards; a daughter, Phyllis A. Brown; four sons, Terrell Funches, Steven Funches Sr., Anthony McClendon and Tony Whitaker of Los Angeles; two brothers, Larry Morrow of Raymond and Johnny Morrow of Vicksburg; five sisters, Margaret Ann Jamison of Inglewood, Calif., Margaret Jean Lemon of Opelousas, La., Ida Odems and Rosie Noel, both of Edwards, and Esther Cole of Utica; four grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including Ula Berry of Vicksburg.

Ada Marie Ringold

Services for Ada Marie Ringold will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary M.B. Church with the Rev. Mincer Minor Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Duck Hill Cemetery in Duck Hill, Miss.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ringold died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 54.

Mrs. Ringold was a certified nurse’s assistant at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church, where she was in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodworth Henry and Laura Marie Henry Gholston.

She is survived by three sons, George V. Ringold of Jackson, Earl Ringold of Lacrosse, Wis., and Kenya N. Ringold of the U.S. Navy in South Carolina; three brothers, William Lee Henry, Willie Earl Henry and Ira Lee Henry, all of Jackson; one sister, George Lula White of Jackson; and seven grandchildren.

Betty Ann Smith

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Betty Ann Smith died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, in Huntsville, Ala. She was 65.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Eugene Smith of Huntsville; three sons, Eugene Smith Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., Alan Smith of Memphis and James Smith of Jacksonville, Ala.; one daughter, Cynthia Barnes of Huntsville; a sister, Virginia Scorsone of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Twickenham Funeral Home South in Huntsville. Burial will follow at Twickenham Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.

Eula Lee Barker Strong

Eula Lee Barker Strong, 88, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Visitation is 5-8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery.

Eula Lee was born in Centreville, Miss., on May 27, 1916. Her parents were Clifton and Lillie Barker. After graduating from high school, she married Marvin Gerald Strong on June 23, 1934, and moved to Rolling Fork in 1944. She was the proprietor of Strong’s Department Store in Rolling Fork for many years.

Mrs. Strong was an active member of First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the WMU. She was also involved in the B&PW Club of Rolling Fork, holding several different offices over the years. Mrs. Strong was a member of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of the Deer Creek chapter.

She was an avid gardener and enjoyed the wide variety of plants and bulbs in her yard. In addition, Mrs. Strong was a member of the local garden club.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include a daughter, Marva Lee Goodman and husband, Max, of Brandon; two sons, Bernard Strong and wife, Sarah, of Rolling Fork and Charles Strong and wife, Judy, of Moss Point; four sisters, Mattie Ezell Drummond of Eupora, Hazel Goza and husband, Edgar, of Denham Springs, La., Earline Welch and husband, Bill, of Gallman and Bettie Culpepper and husband, Leonard, of Baton Rouge; two brothers, L.D. Barker and wife, Anna, of Baton Rouge and L.V. Barker and wife, Dorothy, of Clinton; six grandchildren, Max Ray Goodman of Pearl, Elizabeth Lee Barnhart of Germantown, Tenn., Suzanne Hargrave Willis of Vicksburg, David Gerald Strong of Hammond, La., Memorie Ann Howard of Oxford and Summer Marie Floyd of Pascagoula; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Strong, Ray Goodman Jr., Paul Barker, Errick Stephens, Tony Welch, Wesley Howard, Mitchell Willis and Jimmy Cain.

Faye B. Yelverton

ROLLING FORK – Faye B. Yelverton died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 74.

Mrs. Yelverton was born in Attala County and had been a Cary resident for the past 40 years. She was a retired restaurant owner.

She is survived by a son, Mike Hutchinson of McCool; a daughter, Diane Wheeler of Cary; three brothers; three sisters; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork with Tim Beard officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until the service at the funeral home in Rolling Fork.
