Sallie Mae Bernard

KATY – Sallie Mae Bernard died Friday, April 22, 2005, at her home in Katy, Texas.

She was 86.

She was a homemaker and a member of Springhill M.B. Church in Vicksburg.

Survivors include four sons, George Bernard of Gary, Ind., Claiborne Bernard of Las Vegas, Nev., Robert Bernard of Denver, Colo. and Charles Hall of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three daughters, Willa M. Durrah of Chicago, Ill., Sandra Belfield of Katy, Texas, and Mary Robinson of Romeo, Ill.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete.

Robert Harvey

TALLULAH – Robert Harvey died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 88.

Mr. Harvey was a resident of East Carroll Parish and a native of Madison Parish. He was a retired employee of Louisiana Power & Light Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clotilde Harvey, and a daughter, Dixie Harvey Firmin.

Survivors include two daughters, Margo Hopkins of Jackson and Kay Tarver of Laurel, Fla.; one brother, David Harvey of Lake Providence; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 today at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Tallulah with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will begin at 1 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Dick Brown, Robert Charles Brown, Dalton Fortenberry, Wayne Hopkins, Robbie Fortenberry and Harold Murphy.

Tennessee Eva Stamps

UTICA – Tennessee Eva Stamps, 99, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at home.

Visitation is noon-3 today at Jackson Memorial Funeral Services and 4-7 p.m. at Greater Zion Traveler M.B. Church in Utica. Homegoing services are at noon Sunday at Greater Zion Traveler M.B. Church with burial at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Stamps was a native of Utica. She was a school teacher in the Hinds County school system for 45 years. She was a member of Greater Zion Traveler M.B. Church where she served in various capacities throughout the years. Mrs. Stamps was a prayerful, loving and caring person. She always had a warm smile and a kind word to share, and she loved her church and family with all of her heart.

She leaves to cherish two daughters, Osia (Johnny) Halsell of Utica; Barbara (William) Griffin of Cary; one son, Jarvis W. (Charlie) Stamps of Chicago, Ill.; one foster daughter, Carolyn (Harry) Bailey of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Romona Stamps of Chicago and Regina Stubblefield of Ridgeland; and one great-grandchild, Desmond S. Stubblefield of Ridgeland.
