James Chiles

James Chiles died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 62.

Mr. Chiles was a retired carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Chiles.

Survivors include his mother, Lubertha Smith Chiles of Vicksburg; a brother, Edwin Chiles of Vicksburg; a sister, Ann Davis of Memphis; one daughter, Cheryl Thomas White of Vicksburg; and friends and other relatives, including members of the Chiles, Davis and Thomas families of Vicksburg.

Williams Funeral Service has charge of the arrangements.

Smiley Thomas

ZACHARY, La. – Smiley Thomas died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at his home in Zachary, La. He was 55.

Mr. Thomas was born in Baton Rouge. He lived in Vicksburg for many years before moving to Zachary. He was a member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church. He worked for Exxon for 25 years in Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Gloria Thomas; his grandparents, George and Elvira Nelson; and a brother, John Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Thomas of Zachary; one daughter, Noi Michelle Thomas Mills of Baton Rouge; one son, Smiley Thomas Jr. of Norfolk, Va.; three sisters, Cenetta Clash and Asalee Cook, both of Vicksburg, and Gloria Thomas of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Pilgrim Baptist Church in Zachary with Miller and Daughter Mortuary in charge.

William A. Wilson

ROLLING FORK – William A. “Gus” Wilson died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Baylor-All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 93.

Born in Webster County, Mr. Wilson was a Rolling Fork resident for a number of years. He retired from MP&L after 44 years as a serviceman, then worked as a meter reader for the Rolling Fork Water Department.

He was a member of Rolling Fork Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae “Peggy” Wilson.

Survivors include two sons, Eddie Wilson of Memphis and Larry Wilson of Saginaw, Texas; one brother, H.T. Wilson of Greenville; one sister, Bobbie Jordan of Greenville; and one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Rolling Fork Church of Christ with Minister Eugene Stringer officiating. Burial followed at Mound Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Kevin Magee, Jim Magee, Gus Wilson, Joel Sandifer, Gary Burns and James Herman.

Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Henderson, Gary Henderson, Sammy Price and Harvey Savell.
