Glorya Frank Turner Gee

Memorial services for Glorya Frank Turner Gee will be at noon Saturday at Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. A repast will follow at 1009 Bagot St.

Mrs. Gee died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at her home. She was 73.

A graduate of Alcorn State University, Mrs. Gee attended Atlanta University and New Mexico State University. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she served as pianist.

Mrs. Gee retired from White Sands Missile Base as a journalist with 30 years of service. She was also retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Prentiss Renee Parker, and her parents, Frank and Hattie Turner.

She is survived by a son, Dario Lawrence of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and other relatives, including Barbara Lawrence.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church Building Fund, 5026 Mount Alban Road, Vicksburg, MS 39183.

L.T. Moran Sr.

Services for L.T. “Butch” Moran Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Moran died Friday, April 29, 2005, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 68.

He retired from Cotton Holsum Bakers Inc. and spent a number of years as a cab driver for both Veterans and J.B. Taxi companies.

He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

Mr. Moran was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Barnes; his mother and stepfather, Gertrude and Tom Green; and three brothers, Tommy Green, Judge Robert L. Moran Sr. and James E. Winfield Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma W. Moran; two daughters, Mary Lisa Moran Grayer of Brandon and Jeanie Moran Bishaw of Detroit; two sons, L.T. Moran Jr. of Detroit and Eric Scott of Vicksburg; four stepsons, Calvin Washington and Gary Eastman, both of Vicksburg, Michael Eastman of Seattle, Wash., and Ricky Eastman of Tallulah; three brothers, Johnny Moran and Nathan Green, both of Vicksburg, and Willie Green of Kosciusko; five sisters, Patsy Gibbs and Azilee Green, both of Vicksburg, Christine Phillips of Edwards, Matilda Miles of Tiptonville, Tenn., and Hattie Mae Barnes Turner of Milwaukee, Wis.; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Johney Mitchell Sr.

ANGUILLA – Services for Johney Mitchell Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Joel Hill and the Rev. Vernon Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in Anguilla.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Mitchell died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Tulane University Hospital in New Orleans. He was 54.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Moorehead. He was a resident of Sharkey County, where he worked as a mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Mitchell of Anguilla; three sons, Johney Mitchell Jr. of Philadelphia, Billy Wayne Mitchell of Wayside and Jimmy Allen Mitchell of Rolling Fork; his brother, Dently Mitchell of Belzoni; three sisters, Lula Mae Cochran of Mountain Home, Ark., Kathy Harris of Pascagoula and Annie McClain of Morgan City, La.; and four grandchildren.

Lola B. Porter

Services for Lola B. Porter will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Edley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Porter died Monday, May 2, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 65.

Mrs. Porter was retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was a member of Gospel Temple M.B. Church, where she was on the Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Jean Porter; her father, Lee A. Gaines Sr.; a brother, Thomas Gaines; her maternal grandparents, Lelia and Ford Pinder; and her paternal grandparents, Anita and David Gaines.

Survivors include one son, Cedric L. Porter of Jeffersonville, Ind.; two daughters, Sylvia O. Cooper of Louisville, Ky., and Darlene P. Stout of Jeffersonville; her mother, Lillian Hunter Gaines of Vicksburg; three brothers, Lee A. Gaines Jr. and Richard Gaines, both of Oakland, Calif., and Reuben Gaines of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Sadie G. Jackson of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Clarence Williams and Josephine Sanders of Vicksburg.

Anna Catherine Rose

Anna Catherine Rose died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 42.

Born in Biloxi, Miss Rose was a former resident of Vicksburg and had lived in Jackson for the past 24 years. She attended St. Aloysius High School and was a member of the Catholic faith.

She was a receptionist with 20/20 Eye Care.

Miss Rose was preceded in death by her father, Chester H. Rose Jr.

Survivors include her mother, Margaret Jo Rose of Vicksburg; a sister, Jean Marie Rose of Jackson; a brother, Patrick Michael Rose of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Mary Anne Dotson and Katherine Turcotte of Vicksburg.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Riles Funeral Home with a Christian wake at 6:30 and Saturday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Baker, Dr. Minor Pace, Benny Pettis, James Rader, Jeffrey Rader, Rick Grayson and Hardy Sumrall.

Ruby Lee Wilson

Ruby Lee Wilson died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Wilson was a Hermanville native. She retired from Anderson-Tully Co. She was a member of Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Wilson; her parents, Frank and Annie Bell Brown; a brother, Clarence Brown; and four sisters, Lillie Mae Jones, Eretha Mae Brown, Jessie Mae Brown and LeNelle Brown.

She is survived by her caregiver, Katheryne Brown of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. E.E. Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
