Mary Rose Jarvis
BRANDON – Mary Rose Jarvis died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at her home in Brandon. She was 80.
Mrs. Jarvis was a native of Kemper County and had been a Brandon resident since 1953. She was a member of Brandon Presbyterian Church, where she played the piano for preschool for a number of years.
She was a member of the Brandon Methodist Bridge Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leo Jarvis, in 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, Vivien Jarvis Moore of Brandon and Melba Jarvis Whitaker of Lakeland, Fla.; one son, Wendell Jarvis of Vicksburg; a sister, Frances Grimaldi of Charlotte, N.C.; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Burial will follow at Brandon Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

Charles Richard Marshall
TALLULAH – Charles Richard Marshall died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Regency Hospital in Hattiesburg. He was 78.
Mr. Marshall was born in McComb. He was a retired auto salesman from Osborne-Ford. He retired from K-Mar Escort service in 2003. He later moved to Tallulah, where he served as a deacon at Parkview Baptist Church. He was a member of Tallulah Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Marshall.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Jobe Marshall of Tallulah; and one daughter, Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Robertson of Hattiesburg.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Tallulah with the Rev. Cletus Mock and the Rev. J. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be the Parkview Baptist Church deacons.
Anna Catherine Rose
Anna Catherine Rose died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 42.
Born in Biloxi, Miss Rose was a former resident of Vicksburg and had lived in Jackson for the past 24 years. She attended St. Aloysius High School and was a member of the Catholic faith.
She was a receptionist with 20/20 Eye Care.
Miss Rose was preceded in death by her father, Chester H. Rose Jr.
Survivors include her mother, Margaret Jo Rose of Vicksburg; a sister, Jean Marie Rose of Jackson; a brother, Patrick Michael Rose of Vicksburg; three aunts, Sister Mary Clarissa Rose R.S.M. of Jackson, Yvonne Rose of Madison and Mary Anne Dotson of Vicksburg; and numerous other relatives, including Katherine Turcotte of Vicksburg.
A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home and at St. Michael Catholic Church from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service. A Christian wake service will be at 6:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Baker, Dr. Minor Pace, Benny Pettis, James Rader, Jeffrey Rader, Rick Grayson and Hardy Sumrall.

Doris Yvonne Anderson Strong
Services for Doris Yvonne Anderson Strong will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church with the Rev. Alfred Lassiter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday at Robbins Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the church.
Mrs. Strong died Friday, April 29, 2005, at Select Specialty Hospital/Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 57.
Mrs. Strong was a graduate of Alcorn State University and a retired educator at R.H. Watkins High School in Laurel. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Zion Travelers Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Miles Anderson.
Survivors include her husband, Walter C. Strong Jr. of Vicksburg; one daughter, Michelle Strong Greer of Jackson; her father, Aaron Anderson Sr. of Chicago; one grandmother, Mattie Lee Squalls Brewster of Edwards; two sisters, Virginia Perkins and Vickie Hampton of Chicago; one brother, Aaron Anderson Jr. of Chicago; and nieces, nephews and other relatives including the Anderson, Banks, Brewster, Miles, Tate, Strong, Greer and Murray families.
Marie Jenkins Winston
Services for Marie Jenkins “Rie” Winston will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Oak Chapel M.B. Church on Freetown Road with the Rev. Dellie C. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mrs. Winston died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 89.
A homemaker, Mrs. Winston was a member of Oak Chapel M.B. Church, where she was on the Mother Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Sr. and Laura Piggs Jenkins; her husband, James Winston; three sons, Leo Winston, James C. Winston and Wallace Winston; and four brothers, the Rev. Ellis Jenkins Jr., the Rev. Charlie Ford, Arthur Jenkins and Rufus Jenkins.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas Winston of New Orleans, McArthur Winston of Muskegon, Mich., and Charles Winston Sr. of Vicksburg; six daughters, Harriet Langs of New Orleans, Sue Anderson of Muskegon and Gladys Winston, Beatrice Perkins, Dorothy Erves and Thelma Winston, all of Vicksburg; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and great-great-grandchildren.
Shappy Wright
Shappy Wright died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was 47.
Mrs. Wright was a member of Word of Faith Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Judge Wright, and a sister, Barbara Ann Wright.
Survivors include a daughter, Targarette Boyd of Vicksburg; her parents, Hoover Younger and Roberta Wright, both of Vicksburg; one brother, Hoover Younger Jr. of Vallejo, Calif.; four sisters, Rochelle Lewis of Victorville, Calif., Roberta L. Polk of Vicksburg, Diann Bolton of Memphis and Rose Wright of Aurora, Ill.; one grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

William H. Young Sr.
William H. Young Sr. died Thursday, May 5, 2005, in Vicksburg. He was 55.
Mr. Young was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Mount Heroden M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Young Sr. and Hilda Walker Young; and two sisters, Mamie Sue Young and Willie Bell Young Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Holmes Young; two sons, William H. Young Jr. of Greenwood and David Robinson of Vicksburg; one stepson, Jessie Robert Warfield of Vicksburg; one stepdaughter, Carla Latham of Vicksburg; four sisters, Lois Young Anderson, Hilda Young White, Ann Young Hebron, all of Vicksburg, and Katherine Young McReynolds of Pensacola, Fla.; four brothers, Albert Young Jr., Harvey Young, Ernest Young and Halvern Young, all of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and other relatives including the Stewart, Taylor, Carson and Murphy families.
