Charlie Brown
Charlie Brown died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 50.
Mr. Brown was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and Utica Junior College. He was a retired carpenter and a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Brown Sr.; a brother, John Walter “Jake” Brown; two sisters, Andrea B. Jackson and Pearlie Mae Jones; his maternal grandmother, Pearlie Williams; and his paternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Lou Brown.
Survivors include three daughters, Ingrid Brown and Charlie Shawnee Brown, both of Arlington, Texas, and Tamala Ross of New Orleans; his mother, Hester Williams Brown of Vicksburg; four brothers, Henry Brown Jr. of Chicago, Michael Brown of Jackson and Floyd Brown and Lee Dudley Brown, both of Vicksburg; four sisters, Elnora Brown, Linda Kaye Brown and Janice Brown, all of Vicksburg, and Sharolyn B. Young of Jackson; his maternal grandfather, Henderson Williams Jr. of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy Ann Corr
LONGWOOD, Fla. – Dorothy Ann Corr died Monday, May 16, 2005, in Orlando, Fla. She was 56.
Mrs. Corr was born in Oak Grove, La.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond George of Longwood, Fla.; three sons, Jimmy Corr of Greenville, S.C., and Jeff Corr and John Corr, both of Orlando; one daughter, Jackie Boston of Orlando; her parents, Orvey Trichell and Mary Maude Trichell, both of Oak Grove; one sister, Marie Costello of Oak Grove; one granddaughter; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oak Grove with the Rev. Zacharias Prakuzhy officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 7 tonight at Cox Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be James Costello, Jason Costello, Steve Shuman, Wendell Manning, Rodney Manning and Lamar Trichell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry McGuffie, Bobby Bonnett, Michael Manning and Clarence Manning.
Love Davis
HERMANVILLE – Love Davis died Saturday, May 14, 2005, as the result of a gunshot wound in Hermanville. He was 23.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Pattison. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica.
Kathy Ellis Kemp
BYRAM – Kathy Ellis Kemp died Monday, May 16, 2005, at her home in Byram. She was 53.
Mrs. Kemp was born in Belzoni and lived most of her life in the Utica area. She was employed by the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association in Jackson. She was a member of the Hardwood Club at Hillcrest Christian School and attended Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Brad Strong of Windsor, Colo., and Andrew Kemp of Byram; one daughter, Jennifer Schoonmaker of Tampa, Fla.; her mother, Elizabeth Ellis of Utica; four sisters, Dianne Patureau of Warsaw, Va., Deborah Strong of Utica, Kim Allred of Vicksburg and Susie Vinzant of Crystal Springs; and three grandchildren, Brooke and Claire Strong of Windsor and Shelby Schoonmaker of Tampa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Utica Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben James officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Douglas, Brad Todd, David Cash, Zack Keup and Thomas Starnes.

Gary Robert Klein
HAMPTON, Iowa – Gary Klein, age 58, of Vicksburg and formerly of Ackley, Iowa, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, rural Geneva, with burial at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.
Gary Robert Klein was born July 26, 1946, in Hampton, Iowa, the son of Earl and Arlene Sprain Klein. He served four years in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. Gary had worked at Disney World in Florida, was chief executive officer at Flagship Bank in Haines City, Fla., and in preneed funeral sales in Florida.
Mr. Klein is survived by a daughter, Tia Colao and her husband, Ivan, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Nicholas Klein of Lake Worth, Fla., and Anthony Klein of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Marcus and Mariel Colao; his parents, Arlene and Earl Klein of Ackley; two sisters, Sandra Klein of Urbandale, Iowa, and Lori Johnson of Chaska, Minn.; his stepmother, Beverly Perez of Hampton, Iowa; and two stepbrothers, Delbert Perez and David Perez, both of Hampton.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Sassy Perez, and two stepbrothers, Dick and Dan Perez.
Jean T. Nichols
DELHI – Jean T. Nichols died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. She was 79.
Mrs. Nichols was a longtime resident of Georgiana, Ala., where she graduated from Georgiana High School. She formerly attended Oak Grove Methodist Church in Georgiana and had been a member of Dunn Baptist Church in Dunn, La., since 1998.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Nichols; one son, Ronnie Nichols; a grandson, Tim Haman; her parents, Herman Thompson and Carrie Ledlow Thompson; a brother, Maurice Thompson; and a sister, Thelma Crook.
She is survived by her son, Jim Nichols of St. Joseph; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dunn Baptist Church with the Revs. Bernard Duchesne Jr. and Eddie Fuller officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery in Georgiana.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi.
Pallbearers will be David Haman, Jeff Nichols, John Thomas, Troy Thomas, James Rich and Milton Linder.
Memorials may be made to Dunn Baptist Church’s Young at Heart Fund or to a favorite charity.
Harry Benard Sadberry
Services for Harry Benard Sadberry will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Traveler’s M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Lynch Chapel AME Church Cemetery in Redwood. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the church.
Harry Benard Sadberry died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in an auto accident in Hinds County. He was 28.
Mr. Sadberry was born in Vicksburg. He was a 1994 graduate of Warren Central High School. He was a member of the varsity basketball and track teams. He was self-employed and an owner of J&H Lawn Service. He was a member of Lynch Chapel AME Church in Redwood.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Sadberry Jr.; and a half-sister, Patricia Sadberry.
Survivors include two sons, Harrison B. Morrison Sadberry and Ziyan Hopkins Sadberry, both of Jackson; two daughters, Olivia Morrison Sadberry of Jackson and Keiharryaih Lenore Sadberry of Vicksburg; his mother, Ernestine Herron Marley of Vicksburg; four brothers, Glen Earl Claiborne of Lethonia, Ga., Kenneth Eugene Sadberry and Lester Claiborne Jr., both of Redwood, and Kelvin Lewis Sadberry of of Los Angeles; a half-brother, David Sadberry III of Chicago; two sisters, LeShawn Yvette Sadberry and Belinda Faye Sadberry Wilson, both of Los Angeles; three half-sisters, Rubye Sadberry of Vicksburg, Mary Sadberry of Petersburg, Va., and Melissa Scott of Maywood, Ill.; aunts, uncles and other relatives, including the Herron, Sadberry, Walker, Singleton, Smith, Carson and Hawkins families of Vicksburg.
Hence L. Steed Jr.
Services for Hence L. Steed Jr. will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Green M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home, followed by the Masonic Rites and from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the church.
Hence L. Steed Jr. died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at his home. He was 84.
Mr. Steed was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of Pleasant Green M.B. Church, where he was a former trustee and Sunday school teacher.
He was also a member of Mount Lebo Royal Lodge Chapter 31, Knights of Temple Star 5, Star Temple Chapter 5, Sunshine Lodge No.99 AF&AM, IBPOE Fidelity Lodge No. 507 and American Legion Tyner-Ford Post 213.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Steed Sr.; his parents, Hence L. Sr. and Sarah Ann Steed; three brothers, Willie Steed, Robert Steed and Abraham Steed; and three sisters, Roberta Martin, Thelma Cartwright and Sarah Watson.
Survivors include his wife, Berta Steed of Vicksburg; one daughter, Hazel Stewart of Biloxi; a sister, Bertha Dennis of Joliet, Ill.; a grandson he reared, Lawrence Steed Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; and other relatives.
