Charlie Brown

Services for Charlie Brown will be at 2 p.m. today at Traveler’s Rest M.B. Church on Bowmar Avenue with the Rev. Roosevelt Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 50.

Mr. Brown was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and Utica Junior College. He was a retired carpenter and a member of First Baptist M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Brown Sr.; a brother, John Walter “Jake” Brown; two sisters, Andrea B. Jackson and Pearlie Mae Jones; his maternal grandmother, Pearlie Williams; and his paternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Lou Brown.

Survivors include three daughters, Ingrid Brown and Charlie Shawnee Brown, both of Arlington, Texas, and Tamala Ross of New Orleans; his mother, Hester Williams Brown of Vicksburg; four brothers, Henry Brown Jr. of Chicago, Michael Brown of Jackson and Floyd Brown and Lee Dudley Brown, both of Vicksburg; four sisters, Elnora Brown, Linda Kaye Brown and Janice Brown, all of Vicksburg, and Sharolyn B. Young of Jackson; his maternal grandfather, Henderson Williams Jr. of Vicksburg; and grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wyman Francis Land

Wyman Francis “Louie” Land died Friday, May 20, 2005, at his home. He was 81.

Mr. Land was a native of Hugo, Okla., and was the son of the late A.E. and Mabel Downing Land.

He was a machinist for LeTourneau Co., for 20 years. He also worked as a machinist at Waterways Experiment Station for 17 years. Mr. Land was a World War II veteran who served in the Army with the Dixie Division and a member of the Presbyterian church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Castle and Myran Land and a brother, Gene Land.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie Land of Vicksburg and his children.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 tonight.

Pallbearers will be George Tompkins, Ross Johnson, Victor Cain, Richard Burrows, James Marshall and Mike Presson.

Dewey Victor “Red” Patrick

DELHI – Dewey Victor “Red” Patrick died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at the Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. He was 85.

Mr. Patrick was a veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific with the Army’s Company A 637th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was also a local store owner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Victor Patrick and Mary Jane Kennedy Patrick; four brothers, George David Patrick, Hilton “Judge” Patrick, Leitis Patrick and Edgar Patrick; and a sister, Marletta Patrick.

Mr. Patrick is survived by his wife, Geneva Crisp Patrick of Delhi; a son, Dewey T. Patrick of Bastrop, La.; a daughter, Judy Willis; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Leotis Patrick; and a sister, Janet Copes.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with Brother Wilfred Burgess of the Delhi Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in the Epps Community Cemetery in Epps.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Copes, Larry Copes, Mike Copes, Greg Cook, Allen Patrick and Jerry Wayne Patrick.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Delhi Church of Christ.
