Green Wave rolling into C-USA tourney|[5/24/05]

An automatic NCAA regional berth will be on the line as Conference USA’s eight best teams vie for the league title at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg.

Top-ranked Tulane (47-9) won the regular season championship and has won every Conference USA series this season except one.

The Green Wave will open the tournament against UAB at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon. Houston and East Carolina will start the tournament at 9 a.m.

Southern Miss, which finished third in the regular season standings, will play South Florida in Wednesday’s final game at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game will play either Texas Christian or Louisville on Thursday.

The double-elimination tournament will end on Sunday with a 1 p.m. championship game.

The Green Wave has been ranked in the Top 3 for most of the season and have completed five conference sweeps.

Tulane is coming off two wins over TCU in the final regular season weekend.
