Wilson Allen
CAROL CITY, Fla. – Wilson Allen died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was 59.
Mr. Allen was a native of Kilmichael, Miss. He moved to Miami in 1969 and lived in Carol City. He was retired from the City of Miami.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Estelle Allen; a son, Eric Allen; two brothers, Cleveland Allen and Norman Allen; and a sister, Juliette Allen.
Survivors include two sons, Jerald Allen of Carol City and Jerod Allen of Atlanta; two brothers, Willie Earl Allen of Kilmichael and Travis Allen of Jackson; four sisters, Irene Yates of Ackerman, Joycie Bright of Vicksburg and Arma Wesley and Brenda Allen, both of Jackson; one grandchild; and other relatives, including Benetta Barnes and Marvalene Boston, both of Miami.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Roberts and Sons Mortuary in Winona. Burial will follow at Lindsey Springs Cemetery in Kilmichael.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Sunday until the service.
Larry Earl Brown
Services for Larry Earl Brown will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. June Chiplin Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Christian Church Cemetery in Claiborne County.
Mr. Brown died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 45.
Mr. Brown was a former construction worker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Brown Sr.
He is survived by a son, Julius Hamlin of Memphis; two daughters, Angie Causey and Krystal Hamlin, both of Vicksburg; his mother, Julia Lee Brown of Vicksburg; three brothers, Robert Lee Brown Jr., Jackie Brown and Herman Butler, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Betty B. Strong of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Agnes Brunner Green
SNELLVILLE, Ga. – Services for Agnes Brunner “Miss Sheenie” Green will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jackson Street M.B. Church with the Rev. John Carroll, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Green died Monday, May 23, 2005. She was 84.
Mrs. Green was a longtime resident of Vicksburg, where she was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School. She was a retired from S.H. Kress Company. She was a member of Jackson Street M.B. Church, where her late husband, Harold S. Green, was a former pastor. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Brunner and Inez Brunner, and her brother, Willie Brunner Jr.
Survivors include a nephew, James McGee of Snellville; and cousins including Marie Goodman, Melba Ford and Nicie Young, all of Vicksburg; and the Straughter, Walker and Naylor families of Vicksburg.
Lucille Harris
Lucille Harris died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at her home. She was 82.
Born in Tensas Parish, Ms. Harris was a presser for United Cleaners. She was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church, where she was president of the senior choir. She was a member of the Home Relief Society of Waterproof, La.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia Jones Harris; six brothers, Lee Harris, Joseph Harris Sr., Marshall Harris, Ralph Harris, Sullivan Harris and Willie Harris; and two sisters, Sophia Kennedy and Matteal Harris.
She is survived by two sons, Freddie Lee Harris Sr. and Eric Morris Harris, both of Vicksburg; one daughter, Mary Lee Singleton Sally of Los Angeles; a sister, Camille H. Cox of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including members of the Kennedy, Cox, Bell, Harris, Jones and Williams families.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Rufus Smith
Services for Rufus “Duff” Smith will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Family Life Cathedral with Pastor Max Tyler officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith died Monday, May 23, 2005, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 66.
Mr. Smith was a heavy-equipment operator and had been employed with Miller Construction Co. for 25 years. He was a member of Family Life Cathedral.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Smith Sr. and Ruth A. Smith; three brothers, Mark Valentine Smith, Nathan Smith Sr. and Francis Earle Smith; and a sister, Bonnie S. Haymond.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy Smith of Vicksburg; one son, Carl Washington of Vicksburg; five sisters, Emma M. Bernard, Mary Ruth Wilmore and Annie Maude Jones, all of Chicago, and Alice Mae Hill and Barbara J. Pierce, both of Vicksburg; four brothers, Frank Smith Jr. of Dallas, Willie Harold Smith of California, Harvey Ladell Smith of Oklahoma City and Dan Ester Smith of Philadelphia, Pa.; and other relatives and friends.
Sadie Lozell Williams
Services for Sadie Lozell Williams will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. John Carroll officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at Natchez National Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Vicksburg Convalescent home. She was 90.
Born in Red Lick, Mrs. Williams was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 213 and Jackson Street M.B. Church, where she was in the senior choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Martha Smith Braxton; her husband, Sammie Williams; six brothers, J.D. Braxton, Earl Braxton, Dan Braxton Jr., Rucher Braxton, Cullen Braxton and Ellis Braxton; and two sisters, Elizabeth B. O’Quin and Martha Nell Perkins.
Survivors include one son, Melvin E. Redmond Sr. of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
