Mr. Dewey H. Brown Jr.
Dewey H. Brown Jr. died Friday, May 27, 2005 at River Region Medical Center. He was 75.
A native of Smith Station, he was raised in Edwards. Mr. Brown was the son of the late Dewey H. Sr., and Lillian Coffing Brown. He was a graduate of Edwards High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 434th Engineer Command during the Korean War. He had been employed with Illinois Central Gulf and Mid-South railroads.
An avid hunter and golfer, he was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary McCormack Brown of Vicksburg; four sons, Gary D’Wayne Brown of Madison and Donald Glynn Brown, Gregory Darrell Brown and Kevin Todd Brown, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, K.B. Brown Sr. and Douglas Brown, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Lillian Farrior of Vicksburg and Dolores Pugh of Pascagoula; seven grandchildren, Ashley Lane Brown, Summer Brown, Craig Brown and Crystal Hasty, all of Vicksburg; Emma Lee Brown and Madeline Brown of Madison; and E.J. Wilkerson of Ridgeland.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Green Acres Cemetery with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner, pastor of Crawford Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Monday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be K.B. Brown Jr., Mike Brown, Hilton Dawson, Jimmy Gillis, Pete Hall and David Wright.

Mrs. Mattie Lee Barry Cain
Mattie Lee Barry Cain died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was 81.
Mrs. Cain was born in Vicksburg and lived in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem M.B. Church, 3055 N. Washington St.
She was also a member of Loving Friendship, Order of the Eastern Star, Mt. Alban Union No. 4, and American Legion Post 213.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Willie B. Parker Nailor; and her husband, David Cain.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharolyn Neal of Colorado Springs and Gwendolyn Cain of Memphis, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Alice Marie Hudson Prouty
Alice Marie Hudson Prouty, 82, of Port Gibson and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, died Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, William Francis Prouty Jr.; son, Edward Donnell Prouty Jr.; two daughters, Frances Prouty Scott and Sandra Prouty Blackmon; nine grandchildren, Donna Michelle Rush-Soniat, Daion Rush “Dara” Bartee, Kelly Rush McGlothren, Angelle Rush Butcher, Larry Russell “Russ” Lipscomb, Alison Lipscomb Pittman, Edward Hudson “Hud” Prouty, William Terrell “Terry” Prouty and Charles Jason Prouty; 15 great-grandchildren, Felecia Ann Prouty, Christopher Charles “Chas” Kelly, Cassandra Mignonne Soniat du Fossat, Weston Kaelly McGlothren, Bradley Michael “Brad” Bartee, Connos Alcee’ McGlothren, Brian Christopher Bartee, Brandon Gabriel Butcher, Heath Jeffrey Soniat du Fossat, Jadyn Love Butcher, Nathan Patrick Pittman, Caleb Jason Prouty, Blake Edward Prouty, Brendan Kade Prouty and Ella Morgan Blackmon; brother, Charles Marvin St. Clair; and one beloved pet, Cochon II.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Hudson and Ella Marie Hudson, and one brother, Robert “Bobby” St. Clair.
A private service will be held today in Port Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Edward Hudson “Hud” Prouty, Larry Russell “Russ” Lipscomb, Charles Jason Prouty, Jeffery John Soniat du Fossat, Michael Bartee and Brandon Butcher.
Honorary pallbearers are William Terrell “Terry” Prouty, Claude Weston “Wes” McGlothren Jr. and Carmack M. Blackmon.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Georgia A. Reine, Dr. Gerald Miletello, Dr. Dwayne Anderson and Dr. Ryan N. Majoria.
