Services for Willie Monroe Brown Sr. were at 11 this morning at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Brown died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 57.

He was a head supervisor at Anderson-Tully Lumber Co. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Henry Williams, Joe Curtis Brown and Walker Eugene Williams.

He is survived by two sons, Willie Monroe Brown Jr. and Wansley Eugene Brown, both of Vicksburg; six daughters, Camille Brown, Josephine Pinkney, Gloriastine Brown, Catrice Pinkney, Merlina Pinkney and LaKeisha Pinkney, all of Jackson; a stepdaughter, Patricia Anderson of Jackson; a brother, Willie James Williams of Vicksburg; two sisters, Vera Washington and Brenda Brown, both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Nellie Marie McCraw

ANGUILLA – Nellie Marie McCraw died Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Flannery-Oaks Guest House in Baton Rouge. She was 92.

Mrs. McCraw was born in Buckeye, Texas. She was a farm owner and homeowner. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Anguilla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Claude McCraw; her parents, George Edward Hill and Pearl Davis; six brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her son, Joseph McCraw of Canton; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City with the Rev. Bill Black officiating. Visitation will be from noon Wednesday until 2 p.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Steven Sanford, Bobby Hodnett, Nell Clinkscale, Rod Brown, Rad Stigall and Charles “Boo Jac” Stevens.

Dorothy Dolores Salmon

Dorothy Dolores Salmon died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 75.

Mrs. Salmon was a native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was the daughter of the late Fred Lavecchia and Eunice Katzenmeyer Strickland.

Mrs. Salmon was a longtime employee of St. Francis Xavier School and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.L. Strickland Sr. and Eunice Katzenmeyer Strickland; her husband, James M. Salmon Sr.; a sister, Eunice Lavecchia King; and a brother, O.L. Strickland Jr.

Mrs. Salmon is survived by her son, James M. Salmon Jr. of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Mark Salmon of Pensacola, Fla., and Jason Salmon of Oxford; her extended family members, Barbara Comes of Vicksburg; Patrick Comes of Oxford; Christopher Comes of Washington D.C., Dolly Ball of Jackson, Bobbye Davenport of Hermanville, Madonna Bliss of Millington, Tenn., Susan Johnson of Madison and Dorothy Gordon of Dallas; five grandnephews; and five grandnieces.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mac Sampey, William Shappley, Floyd Doolittle, Wayne Ball, Richard Johnson, and Russell Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert C. King, Joe Gerache, Billy Kittrell, Dr. Robert Abraham, James Ural Bliss and Jess Davenport.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 this evening, followed by a christian wake service at 7 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.
