Virginia Butler

Services for Virginia Butler will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Cosey officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Church Cemetery in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 this evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Butler died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 89.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Cat” Butler; her parents, Evan Smith and Melissa Smith; two brothers, Evan Smith Sr. and Henry Shields; and two sisters, Willie B. Cartwright and Nellie B. Smith.

Survivors include a sister, Louella Brown of Vicksburg; one stepsister, Mary Dorsey-Dotson of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends including Flora Cartwright, Velma W. Brown, Lubertha Crawford, Alice Smith, Melissa Shields, J.D. Brown, Percy Brown and Jimmy Brown.

Kyle Walter Clark

ST. JOSEPH – Kyle Walter Clark died Thursday, June 23, 2005, in Tallulah. He was 28.

Mr. Clark was born in Kennett, Mo., and lived in Tensas Parish since 1988. He was a management trainee for Wal-Mart Stores and a member of Unity Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry Ray and Joyi Clark of St. Joseph; two brothers, Jerry Wayne Clark of Tallulah and Scott Huffman of Nashville, Tenn.; and one stepson, Cadence Winn, of West Monroe; one niece and one nephew.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the home of Bubba Wynn at 3651 Highway 605 in St. Joseph with the Rev. Bill Bearden officiating.

Kathryn Brown Herlong

SAN ANTONIO – Kathryn Brown Herlong died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in Houston. She was 82.

Mrs. Herlong was born in Strong, Ark., and spent most of her life in the San Antonio area. She was a clothing engineer and designer for McGregor Clothing Line Factory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Louis Brown and Etta Frances Brown; and two brothers, Odell Brown and Horace Brown.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse Louis Herlong of Rio Medina, Texas; John Williamson Herlong Jr. of Lake Providence; two daughters, Effie Stevens of Houston and Carolyn Bolinger of Weatherford, Texas; one brother, Malvin Brown of San Antonio; two sisters, Relda Fay Skipper of Delhi and Opal White of Lake Charles, La.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 today at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi with the Rev. Steve Hillman officiating. Burial will follow at Delhi Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 until 11 this morning at the funeral home.

Lonnie Miller Jr.

Services for Lonnie Miller Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Vicksburg City Auditorium with the Rev. Casey Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 this evening at Williams Funeral Home.

Mr. Miller died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Vicksburg. He was 48.

He was employed with LeTourneau as a welder. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Miller Sr. and Rosie Lee Buchanan.

Survivors include two brothers, Mose Hearron Sr. of Vicksburg and Willie Larry Buchanan of Atlanta; eight sisters, Edna Campbell, Brenda Martin, Barbara Williams, Celia Carter, Willie Mae Ward, Marilyn Coleman and Leslie Rader, all of Vicksburg, and Fannie Smith of Utica; and relatives and friends including Albert Buchanan and Mary Moore, both of Vicksburg.

Veronica A. Palmer

HERMANVILLE – Services for Veronica A. Palmer will be at 1 today at Jones Chapel Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Johnny Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Mrs. Palmer died Friday, June 17, 2005, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 64.

She was a member and assistant secretary at Jones Chapel Church. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and a member of the Baptist Aid.

Survivors include her mother, Wilhelmina Jones-Grigsby of Hermanville; one son, Jonathan Palmer of Hermanville; one daughter, Amina Palmer of Hermanville; and other relatives and friends, including Henry George Johnson of Katie, Texas, and Lannie Foster of Los Angeles.
