Ethel Bingham Harris

Services for Ethel Bingham Harris will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bingham Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. James Archer and Robert L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home and Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mrs. Harris died Friday, June 24, 2005, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 97.

A native of Warren County, Mrs. Harris retired from the Warren County Public Schools in 1970 after 32 years of service. She was a former teacher at Kings Elementary.

She was a member of the Vicksburg Retired Teachers Association, the Mississippi Retired Teachers Association and the Alcorn State University Alumni.

Mrs. Harris was a member of Bingham Memorial Baptist Church, where she was on the mother board. She was a former member of Rose of Sharon OES and a former mother-board member and clerk at Mount Pisgah M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Eugene Harris Sr.; a son, James Eugene Harris Jr.; two sisters, Charlotte Davis and Rosie Johnson; and her parents, Dennis Bingham and Polly Edmond Bingham Harris.

Survivors include a son, Charles L. Harris Sr. of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Clifton Harris of Vicksburg.
