Iris Naylor Lewis

Iris Naylor Lewis died Monday, July 11, 2005, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 52.

A resident of Flora, Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Church of Christ in Jackson. She was a former employee of McRae’s and former manager of Cato’s.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorenza McDonald; a brother, Jimmy McDonald; and her father.

She is survived by Jack Hollins of Flora; four daughters, Lisa Anderson of Memphis, Malinda Naylor Grays of Vicksburg, Lillian Naylor of Flowood and Iris Naylor of Jackson; one brother, Charles Hobson of Richmond, Texas; one sister, Imelia Neda Venable of Brookhaven; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Carolyn Sasser Ramsey

Carolyn Sasser Ramsey died Sunday evening, July 10, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 62.

A native of Brookhaven, Mrs. Ramsey came to Vicksburg as a teacher in the Vicksburg School District. She was a past president of the Vicksburg Junior Auxiliary, former co-directress of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi Altar Guild and a senior hostess for the Miss Mississippi Pageant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Ramsey; her parents, Bobby and Jesse Sasser; and a brother, James Sasser.

She is survived by three children, Tom Ramsey of Jackson, Lynda Ramsey Bell of Baton Rouge and Bradley Ramsey of Woodstock, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Stuart and Whit Ramsey, Wren and Ramsey Bell, Sarah, Sadie and Anna Ramsey; and two stepsons, Bill Ramsey of Utica and Bob Ramsey of Mobile.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 until 7:30 tonight at Riles Funeral Home with a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to Holy Trinity, 900 South St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

John Henry Williams

John Henry Williams died Friday, July 8, 2005, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 71.

Mr. Williams worked as a custodian for the Vicksburg Warren School District. He was a member of Hickory Tree M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete Williams and Susie B. Tolliver.

Survivors include one son, Leland Rashad Bingham of Vicksburg; three stepsons, Anthony Bingham, Kenneth Bingham and Fred Moore, all of Vicksburg; one stepdaughter, Latasha Bingham of Vicksburg; one brother, George Brown of Chicago; two sisters, Betty Horton of Glendora and Lucinda Red of Clarksdale; and five stepgrandchildren.
