Joe Asberry Jr.

Joe Asberry Jr., died Friday, July 15, 2005, at his home. He was 51.

Mr. Asberry was a member of New Rock of Ages M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Asberry Sr., and Ora Lee Asberry; and one brother, Booker R. Washington.

He is survived by his wife, Tena Mace Asberry; five sons, Jamal Asberry, Terrance Vaughn, Antonio Ross and Joe Johnson, all of Vicksburg, and Kelvin Reed of Jackson; six daughters, Tamara Vaughn, Kimberly Vaughn, Alicia Evans and Latrella Bester, all of Vicksburg, Katanga Brown of Meridian and Tiffany Williams of Jackson; one brother, Mack Washington of Vicksburg; one sister, Regina Snow of Utica; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives including the Asberry, Erves and Washington families.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

James W. Hodges

James W. Hodges died Saturday, July 16, 2005, at River Region Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 57.

Mr. Hodges was born in Holmes County and was reared in Durant. He had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1973. He was formerly employed by Rexel Southern Electric Co. for more than 30 years. He was an avid golfer and sportsman.

He and his wife, Patsy, had been married for 36 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and it was said that he knew someone everywhere he went. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Elizabeth Hodges.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hodges is survived by a son, Jay Hodges of Bossier City, La; a grandson, Logan A. Hodges of Greenwood; a sister, Faye Hodges White of Durant; and other loving family members.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Drs. Matt Buckles and John G. McCall officiating, and a graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Mispah Cemetery in Durant.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Arnold, D.D. Davidson, Arthur Lagg, Doug Hassell, Bobby Richardson, Buck Taylor, Randy Oswalt and Gene Neal.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Pepper, Frank Bailey, Louie Dixon, Stan Chandler, Hayes Carlisle, Clarence Whitaker, Dr. Steven Zachow, Dr. Mark Agrama and Dr. Dan Edney.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1607 Cherry St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Michael Henry Wallace

Michael Henry Wallace died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at his home. He was 25.

Mr. Wallace was born in Jackson. He was an electrician and a member of Bovina Baptist Church.

Services were Saturday at Stricklin King Funeral Home in Yazoo City with the Revs. Chip Starnes and Ellis Gowan officiating. Burial was at Central-Holmes Cemetery.

Survivors include his father, Tom Wallace of Vicksburg; his mother, Nancy Hilderbrand of Bentonia; his natural mother, Martha Schaffer of St. Bernard Parish, La.; his grandmother, Rosemary James of St. Bernard; four sisters, Louise Johnson, Kathy Case and Pam Ertle, all of Vicksburg, and Stephanie Rankin of Madison; and three brothers, Stephen Cobell of Houston, Texas, Mitchell Schaffer of St. Bernard and Chris Patterson of Baltimore.

Pallbearers were Richard Johnson, Chuck Ertle, Allen Bigford Jr., Tracy Case, Jamie Carter and Brent Bigford.
