David W. Anderson
David W. “Jones” Anderson died Sunday, July 17, 2005, as the result of a gunshot wound. He was 41.
Mr. Anderson was a Vicksburg native. He was a self-employed carpenter and a 1982 graduate of Vicksburg High School. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Sr. and Laura Brown Anderson; his maternal grandparents, Jack Sr. and Mary McNair Brown; and his paternal grandparents, Austin and Carrie Anderson.
Survivors include two sons, Terrell Robinson of Pearl and Chacoby Anderson of Springfield, Ill.; nine brothers, Eugene Anderson Jr., Austin Anderson, Chris Anderson, Melvin Anderson, Carl Anderson and Howard Anderson, all of Vicksburg, Archie Lacey of Santa Monica, Calif., James Anderson of Dallas and Harry Anderson of Aiken, S.C.; five sisters, Mary L. Anderson, Irma Lewis, Carrol Anderson and Lula A. Butler, all of Vicksburg, and Barbara Smith of Lithonia, Ga.; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including members of the Brown family of Vicksburg.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Derotha Mason Jackson
Services for Derotha Mason Jackson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pentecostal Power Church in Waltersville with Bishop Melvin Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Waterloo Cemetery in Lorman.
Visitation will be from 2 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at her home. She was 73.
Mrs. Jackson was a native of Lorman and a member of the Pentecostal Power Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Percy Mason, and four brothers, Alfonso Mason, Willie Mason, Joseph Mason and Robert Oliver.
She is survived by her husband, Pearl Jackson of Vicksburg; her mother, Atlanta Harris Mason of Lorman; five sisters, Lula Taylor of Ferriday, La., Dixie Mason and Martha Crayton, both of Lorman, and Alice Foster and Cari Johnson, both of Chicago; four brothers, Jimmy Mason of St. Joseph, Arthur Mason of Chicago, Nathaniel Oliver of Fayette and Calvin Mason of Bloomington, Minn.; and other relatives.
John Sidney Moore Jr.
LAKE PROVIDENCE – John Sidney Moore Jr. died Saturday, July 16, 2005, at West Carroll Care Center in Oak Grove. He was 78.
Mr. Moore was born in St. Joseph and was a resident of Lake Providence.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Sidney Moore III; his parents, John Sidney Moore Sr. and Bernice Hestle Moore; and three sisters, Margarette Hawks, Gladis Crossgrove and Minnie Bass.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Sanderson Moore of Lake Providence; two daughters, Holly Boyd of Dallas and Deborah Nell Moore of Monroe; two brothers, Edward Moore of Jackson and Tommy Moore of St. Joseph; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. today at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton with the Rev. Mike Ray officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Mary E. Thompson
EDWARDS – Mary E. Thompson died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 62.
Ms. Thompson was a resident of Edwards. She retired from Tyson Foods. She was a member of St. Mark M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Ike Thompson; two brothers, R.C. W. Thompson and Charlie Thompson; and two sisters, Lucille Lewis and Willie McDuffie.
Survivors include one son, David Thompson of Edwards; one daughter, Stephanie Thompson of Utica; one brother, Charles Henry Thompson of Edwards; three sisters, Lessie Thompson, Bessie Thompson and Betty Thompson, all of Edwards; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
