Briarfield crushes Franklin|[9/3/05]

Jamie Fortenberry ran for one touchdown and threw for another, Hall Schneider and Stephen Landreneau each scored twice, and Briarfield crushed Franklin Academy 40-14 on Friday night.

Fortenberry ran for 89 yards, including a 45-yard TD scamper in the fourth quarter, for Briarfield (2-1, 1-0 District 7-A). He also threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Landreneau as the Rebels built a 33-0 halftime lead. Schneider finished with only 39 yards, but scored on runs of 15 and 10 yards in the first half.

Landreneau scored on a 37-yard run in the second quarter and Jordan Jong added a 2-yard TD run with 5:51 to play in the half for the Rebels. Jeffrey Graham also ran for 88 yards on 13 carries, while Joseph Hopkins led Briarfield’s defense with seven tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. The Rebels held Franklin to 132 yards of total offense.

Briarfield will host Tensas next Friday at 7 p.m. in a key District 7-A matchup.
