HOUSTON – Services for Kennedi Milan Brinkley will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Kennedi died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, in Houston, Texas. She was 4.

Survivors include her mother, Khelli L. Knox of Houston; her father and stepmother, Gerald and Angela Brinkley of Dallas; one brother, Gerald Brinkley Jr. of Dallas; one sister, Myla Brinkley of Dallas; her maternal grandparents, J.W. Knox Sr. and Georgia T. Knox, both of Vicksburg; her paternal grandparents, Henry Brinkley and Vivian B. Jeffery, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.

Peggy Joe Cox

JACKSON – Peggy Joe Cox died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 74.

Miss Cox was born in Flora in 1931.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan Cox and Bennie Hall Cox.

Survivors include her uncle, Jim Hall; one aunt, Mildred Hall; and numerous cousins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakewood South Memorial Park iu Jackson.

Memorials may be made to Animal Rescue League.

A.C. Dulaney

A.C. Dulaney died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 61.

Mr. Dulaney was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Dulaney and Lucille Smith Dulaney; and one brother, Roosevelt Smith.

Survivors include one son, Michael Dulaney of Jackson; two daughters, Pam Dulaney and Rene Dulaney, both of Utica; three sisters, Ernestine Bracey of Edwards, and Ethelean Haywood and Annie Ruth Boyd, both of Chicago; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Myrtle Elmore Garden

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Myrtle Elmore Garden died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, in Little Rock, Ark. She was 82.

Mrs. Garden was born in Butler, Ala. She was a former resident of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Gordon; her parents, George and Abbey Elmore; one brother, James Elmore; and one daughter, Linda Raines.

Survivors include one son, Wayne Gordon; one sister, Willie Mae Neal; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Roller-Owens Funeral Home in Little Rock has charge of arrangements.

Russell Allen Hartley Sr.

Russell Allen Hartley Sr. died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 43.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hartley was the son of the late Donald and Mary Ann Gray Hartley. He worked as a welder for Brown and Roots Co. for a number of years.

He was a member of Keystone Christian Fellowship.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Maude Gray and Dorothy Jabour.

Survivors include two sons, Russell Allen “Rusty” Hartley Jr. and Ricky Lee Hartley, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, Jimmy Hartley, Johnny Hartley and Ronnie E. Rose, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Teresa Crevitt of Vicksburg; his fiance, Gayle Mann of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White and Ernie Hall officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Harrison, Jerry Brent, Dale Harrison, Mike Fitzhugh, Larry Hartley and James “Sketter” Hartley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Hartley, Dr. Lee Giffin, Ernie Hall, Chris White and Craig Johnson.

Mary Ferguson Johnson

Services for Mary Ferguson “Mome” Johnson will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church with the Rev. Alfred Lassiter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Sunday at the church from noon until the service.

Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 73.

Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church, where she was an usher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Willie Ann Jackson Ferguson; four brothers, John Earl Ferguson, Elmer Lee Ferguson, Lee Arthur Ferguson and Clarence Ferguson; and three sisters, Cleo Williams, Lucy Barber and Ruthie Lee Woods.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Leroy Johnson of Vicksburg; a daughter, Ruby Ferguson Hunter of Vicksburg; two sisters, Willie Mae Ferguson of Vicksburg and Marie Ferguson of New York City; a granddaughter; and other relatives, including members of the Rome, Williams, Walker, Bass and Jackson families of Vicksburg.

Joe Nathan Prince

ROLLING FORK – Joe Nathan Prince died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 64.

Mr. Prince was a resident of Rolling Fork.

Survivors include one son, Wilbur Prince of Southaven; two brothers, Bartholomew Prince Jr. of Vickland, Miss., and Larry Prince of Hampton, Va.; four sisters, Ruby P. Carson of Hollandale, Willie Prince of Vickland, Barbara P. Hood of Atlanta and Martha Bray of Greenville; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Valley M.B. Church with the Rev. Albert Calvin Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Vickland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

James Smith

CLEVELAND – James “Jimmie” Smith died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at Bolivar County Hospital in Cleveland. He was 81.

Mr. Smith was born in Fayette. He attended school in Jefferson County. He served in the Army in World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Smith Sr. and Mary Tyler Smith; one sister, Lena Mae Smith; and three brothers, Richard Smith, Alex Smith and Peter Smith.

Survivors include four brothers, Calvin “Roy” Smith Jr. of Chicago, George Smith of Denver, and Jessie “7-Up” Smith and Robert Hall, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends including the Banks, Tyler and Woods families of Fayette and Vicksburg.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Williams Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
