Willie Jeanette Hankins

OAK GROVE – Willie Jeanette Hankins died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at her home in Oak Grove. She was 58.

Mrs. Hankins was a native of East Carroll Parish. She worked as a secretary at First Church of God in Oak Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis Lafayette Tate and Geneva Tate.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Hankins; one son, Brent Hankins of Shreveport, La.; two brothers, Bill Tate of Tallulah and Charles Robert Tate of Monticello, La.; and three sisters, Shirly Tate of Rock Falls, Ill., Brenda Connor of Epps, La., and Marie Jobe of Tallulah.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Church of God in Oak Grove with the Revs. Paul Ninemire and Roy Pepmiller officiating. Burial will follow at New Forest Cemetery in Forest, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.

Russell Allen Hartley Sr.

Services for Russell Allen Hartley Sr. will be at 11 a.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White and Ernie Hall officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst.

Mr. Hartley died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 43.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hartley was the son of the late Donald Hartley and Mary Ann Carroll. He worked as a welder for Brown and Roots Co. for a number of years.

He was a member of Keystone Christian Fellowship.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmothers, Maude Gray and Dorothy Jabour.

Survivors include two sons, Russell Allen “Rusty” Hartley Jr. and Ricky Lee Hartley, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, Jimmy Hartley, Johnny Hartley and Ronnie E. Rose, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Teresa Crevitt of Vicksburg; his fiance, Gayle Mann of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Harrison, Jerry Brent, Dale Harrison, Mike Fitzhugh, Larry Hartley and James “Sketter” Hartley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Hartley, Dr. Lee Giffin, Ernie Hall, Chris White and Craig Johnson.

Robert W. Moore

TALLULAH – Services for Robert W. “Bob” Moore will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Mr. Moore died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005 in the Olive Branch Senior Center in Tallulah, La. after a lengthy illness. He was 67.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Moore and Annis Moore; two brothers, Joseph Moore and Donald Moore; and a sister, Mary Nolan.

Born in Rayville, La., he lived in Tallulah for 42 years and was a retired river towboat captain for Magnolia Marine. He was a Navy veteran and an active member of Tallulah Masonic Lodge #308.

Survivors include three sons, James Ray Moore, Robert Moore, both of Tallulah, and Gregory Moore, of Slidell, La.; a brother, Loyd Moore of Tallulah; a sister, Sadie J. Moore of Tallulah; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Charles Nolan, Sr., Charles Nolan, Jr., Marty Nolan, Scottie Bullock, Clay Ashley and Thomas Thornton.

Lavelle Willis

OAK GROVE – Lavelle Willis died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital. He was 85.

Mr. Willis was a native of Winn Parish. He worked as a contruction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Rube Willis and Nora Frances Willis; and his wife, Nodie Belle McGrew.

Survivors include three sons, Aussie Levelle Willis, Robert “Bob” Willis, Billy Ray Willis, all of Oak Grove; a daughter, Fay Danley of Oak Grove; two brothers, William R. “Buddy” Willis Jr. of Mer Rouge, La., James “Bud” Willis of Dubach, La.; a sister, Ruth McGee of Oak Grove; and 14 granchildren.

Services will be at 5 p.m. today at Beulah Baptist Church in Oak Grove with Rev. Kenny Herring officiating. Burial will follow at at Beulah Cemetery in Oak Grove under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
