Mildred White Austin
Mildred White Austin died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Belmont Place. She was 88.
Born in Bogalusa, La., Mrs. Austin had been a Vicksburg resident since 1925. She was a retired employee of the Vicksburg Warren School District and member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry S. Austin; a son, Harry R. “Ricky” Austin; her parents, Robert H. and Lily Ross White; four brothers, Bob White, Denmon White, Herbert White and Roy White; and a sister, Hazel White Peacock.
Survivors include a daughter, June Austin Hebler of Vicksburg; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Gilliard Richard Easley
Gilliard Richard Easley died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 64.
Mr. Easley was a retired Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion’s Tyner-Ford Post No. 213. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Mary Butler-Easley; and one brother, Kenny Easley Sr.
Survivors include three daughters, Trina Lucas of Fuquay-varina, N.C., Cassandra Bethune of Raleigh, N.C., and Stephanie Driver of Edmond, Okla.; and two sisters, Debra Greene and Willie Mae Williams, both of Hampton, Va.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
James Travis English
TALLULAH – James Travis English died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Tensas Care and Rehab Center in Newellton. He was 63.
Mr. English was born in Eldorado, Ark., and lived in Tensas Parish for 53 years. He was a manager of Tensas Co-op Gin and a member of Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Jamie A. English of Newellton and Leigh Anne Tisdale of West Monroe; two brothers, David Eli “Petey” English II of Horn Lake and Richard Lee English of Newellton; three sisters, Carolyn Willard of Fayetteville, Ark., Brenda Grimsley of Smithville, Utah, and Patricia Lynn Sadler of West Monroe; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 2 this evening at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah with the Rev. Don Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy White, Wayne Neuroth, Britt Keahey, John Day, Clyde Ray Arnold and Darryl Vandeven.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Hazel, Joe Gossett, Milford McVay and Parnell Barfield.
Adline Harden
WOODVILLE – Adline Harden died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at her home in Woodville. She was 86.
Ms. Harden was born in Wilkinson County. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas Harden and Lucille Armstrong Harden.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Embrew Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Woodville. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 this evening at the funeral home.
Friends of the family will serve as active pallbearers.
James Bernard Whiting
PORT GIBSON – James Bernard Whiting died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in Port Gibson. He was 56.
Mr. Whiting was born in Claiborne County. He was a boiler operator at Port Gibson Veneer. He was a member of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Buck; and one sister, Shirley Whiting.
Survivors include his wife, Marquearite Ellis Whiting of Port Gibson; one son, Sedrick Whiting of Port Gibson; his father, Bernard Whiting of Port Gibson; one brother, Leroy Whiting of Port Gibson; three sisters, Janie Ducksworth of Huntsville, Ala., Josie Smith of Chicago and Georgia Freeman; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Welcome Missionary Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. James Buck Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 6 this evening at the funeral home.
