Crystal Ann Merritt

Crystal Ann Merritt died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at River Region Medical Center from injuries received in a car accident. She was 21.

Ms. Merritt was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was an employee of Walgreens.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Shirley Miles of Vicksburg.

Survivors include one son, Will Thigpen; her parents, Bill and Tamera Bliss Merritt; three brothers, Shane Merritt, Karl Merritt and Josef Merritt; and three sisters, Kerri Barnes, Brittany Merritt and Aimee McBroom, all of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Thigpen, Karl Merritt, Shane Merritt, Mark Wooten, Jake Wooten, Joseph Wooten, Blake Wooten, Terry Wooten and Dwayne Sumrall.

Claude H. Hill

PORT GIBSON – Claude H. Hill died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at his home. He was 82.

Mr. Hill was born in Claiborne County and was a self-employed logger. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He attended Shiloh Baptist Church and was a member of the Port Gibson Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Hill.

Survivors include three sons, Sam H. Hill of Tallulah, Carl Hill of St. Joseph and David Hill of Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; one daughter, Tracy Acosta of Bentonville, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Wintergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Toby Jenkins officiating.
