Georgia Ann Brown
TALLULAH – Georgia Ann Brown died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at Promise Specialty Hospital. She was 71.
Mrs. Brown was born in Yazoo City and had lived in Tallulah most of her life. She was a retired nurse.
She is survived by her husband, William F. Brown of Tallulah; three sons, Rickey J. Brown, Mark T. Brown and Bide E. Brown, all of Tallulah; a daughter, Geneva Carol Knight of Gulfport; one brother, Percy Burrough of McComb; one sister, Ruth Packard of Gulfport; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. James McClusky officiating. Burial followed at Silver Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Harvey, Mike Gibbs, Stuart Frith, K.C. Cox, Mike Cartwright and Tony Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers were Percy Burrough, Dr. Walter Johnston, Chad Ragus, Mark Brown, Jeremy Brown, Bide A. Brown, Shawn Brown, Justin Knight and Caleb Brown.
Allen E. Emerson
PORT GIBSON – Allen E. Emerson died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 73.
Born in Yazoo City, Mr. Emerson had spent most of his life in Claiborne County. He was in the floor-covering business in Jackson and Vicksburg before working for the Mississippi Forestry Commission for 17 years. He was also employed by Port Gibson Oil Works.
He was an active member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Emma Lee Emerson; and three brothers, Walter, James Lee and Marion Emerson.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Emerson of Port Gibson; three sons, Allen Emerson Jr. of Pearl, Robert Earl Emerson of Blair, Okla., and Jerry Donald Emerson of Byram; a brother, John Henry Emerson Sr. and wife, Martha N. Emerson, of Flora; a sister, Lola Meek of Oxford; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Toby Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Claiborne County.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Madge Gillis
Madge Gillis died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at River Region West Campus. She was 65.
Mrs. Gillis was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was employed with the Corps of Engineers. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Gillis of Vicksburg; one son, Mark Gillis of New York; two daughters, Tamela Lott of Vicksburg and Pam Garner of St. Joseph; four brothers, James Evans and Lee Evans, both of Vicksburg, Sidney Evans of Yazoo City and Jimmy Evans of Newellton; a sister, Dolly Gillis of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Paul Evans, Al Goodnight, Evan Goodnight, Dennis Evans, Jonathan Avery, Charlie Belden, Don McAuley and Steven Evans.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and sons-in-law.
