Doris J. Hoxie
Doris J. Hoxie died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 69.
Born in Vicksburg, she was a graduate of Jett High School. Mrs. Hoxie retired as director of personnel for the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was past president of Pi Alpha Kappa Sorority and a local member of the Beta Chapter. She was an active member of the Vicksburg-Warren Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Hoxie was a member of the Business and Professional Women/USA and a past local president of the River City Business and Professional Women. She was a member and past state president of the Mississippi National Guard NCO Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse N. Johns.
She is survived by her husband, Albert L. Hoxie Jr.; three daughters, Sharon H. Cothran and her husband, Scotty, Sharlene H. Jones and her husband, Mark, and Jeanie H. Nicolson and her husband, Andrew, all of Vicksburg; her mother, Onie J. Johns of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, Louise G. Nicolson, Joshua M. Davidson, Jesse R. Jones and Christopher L. Jones and his wife, Kelly; and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Cravo.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rip Hoxie officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 4 until 6 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Otto Logue Jr., R.A. Logue, Andrew C. Nicolson, David Hosemann, Ken Harper and Daniel Dudley. Honorary pallbearers will be Sen. Mike Chaney, Gordon Cotton, Gerald Hasselmann, Dwain Cotton, O.W. Mendrop, Sharp Banks, Dr. Robert Ford and Dr. Steven Zachow.

Sharon R. Moore
TALLULAH – Sharon R. Moore died Monday. Oct. 31, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 58.
Mrs. Moore had lived in Tallulah most of her life. She was a former police officer for the City of Tallulah and a deputy for the Madison Parish Sheriff’s office. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Loyd Moore of Tallulah; a son, Todd Moore of Tallulah; three daughters, Dasha Bryant Miles of Tallulah, Rhonda J. Bryant Petty of Pearl and Carla S. Bryant Ray of Monroe; two brothers, Charles J. Ross Jr. of Beasley, Texas, and Douglas R. Ross of Leesville, La.; a sister, Corinthia “Cookie” Issac of Tallulah; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Andy Vining, Joey Freeman, Carl Tarver, Red Beard, Eddie Cedotal, Mike Moore, Klent Stevenson, James Moore, Lewis Hoch and Stewart Machen.
Paul Nicholson
WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Funeral services for Paul Nicholson, 76-year-old Weatherford, Okla., resident, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Boatman and the Rev. Alberta Helton officiating under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Hubbell Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie, Kan., with the Rev. Gene Spillman officiating.
Paul was born on Jan. 17, 1929, to James and Barbara (Swiderski) Nicholson in Lansing, Kan., and passed away on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. Paul was reared and attended school in Lansing, where he graduated from high school. In June 1948, he married Velma Whitaker in Lawrence, Kan. Paul worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for six years before working overseas in Batman, Turkey, and Baghdad, Iraq. Upon returning to the states he worked for several refining companies all over the United States. On April 5, 1991, Paul married Genett Spillman in Tonganoxie, making their home in Thomas, Okla. They moved to Weatherford, where he worked for Barrett Refining when he retired in 2000 but continued working as a consultant in oil refining.
In memory of Paul and Velma Nicholson. memorials may be made to the Children’s Department of First Congregational Church in Tonganoxie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Paul is survived by his wife, Genett, of their home in Weatherford; one son, Larry Nicholson and his wife, Myrna, of Austin, Texas; one stepson, Festus Crowl and his wife, Vonda, of Hinton, Okla.; three stepdaughters, Kimberly Harrelson of Pace, Fla., Kristi Perkins and her husband, T.C., of Thomas, Okla., and Janet Crowl of Pine Bluff, N.C.; 11 stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-granddaughter.
