Frances A. Gayle
TALLULAH – Frances A. Gayle died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. She was 52.
Mrs. Gayle was born in East Carroll Parish and lived in Tallulah most of her life. She owned an upholstery shop and worked as a records clerk at TCCY and Jiffy Tax. She was of the Pentecost faith.
She is survived by her husband, Frank C. Gayle Sr. of Tallulah; a son, Frank C. Gayle Jr. of Tallulah; two daughters, Crystal Gayle and Beth Gayle, both of West Monroe; six brothers, Alvin Sullivan Sr. of Transylvania, Jerry Sullivan of Delhi, David Sullivan of Pioneer, Jimmy Sullivan of Forrest, Johnny Sullivan of Oak Grove and Daniel Sullivan of Transylvania; and a sister, Connie Gayle of Tallulah.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Bearden officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 tonight.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Larita S. Herrod
TALLULAH – Larita S. Herrod died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at her home in Tallulah. She was 47.
Mrs. Herrod was born in El Paso, Texas, and later moved to Tallulah. She was an accountant for H&R Block for more than 20 years. She was also an animal groomer.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Joe Herrod Jr.; her mother and stepfather, Sybil and George Spencer; her father, James E. Elmore; and other relatives.
Services will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Terri Carpenter Jones
CLINTON – Terri Carpenter Jones died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005 at Central Mississippi Medical Center. She was 48.
Mrs. Jones was born in Jackson and was a longtime resident of Clinton. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1975 and went on to earn a degree in real estate and insurance at the University of Southern Mississippi. She worked for Entergy for the past nine years as an analyst. She was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church, where she was involved in the couple’s Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. Doug Wade Jones.
She is survived by her daughter, Hannah Leigh Jones of Clinton; her parents, Ray W. and Dorothy Boyd Carpenter of Clinton; and two sisters, Deborah Jean Carpenter of Vicksburg and Penny Raye Carpenter of Clinton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morrison Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 today at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton and will resume at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Harold D. Martin
LAKE PROVIDENCE – Harold D. Martin died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at his home. He was 69.
Mr. Martin was born in Sinton, Texas, to the late Zack and Arvezener Martin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Carolyn Delaney, Avis Acker, Ethel Brown and Ginger Guilbeau.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Barbara G. Martin, three daughters, Ina Miller, Lisa Martin and Sandra Wright; a son, Kenneth Martin; 10 grandchildren; a brother, John A. Martin and a sister, Vera Williams.
Services will be at 2 today at the First United Pentecostal Church of Tallulah with the Revs. Greg Nichols and Leroy Skipper officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Memorial cemetery in Winnsboro under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Glass, Carlos Glass, George Glass, Dennis Glass, Teddy Glass and David Griffing.
Honorary pallbearer will be Glen Jordan.
Lillian Newman Mitchell
Lillian Newman Mitchell passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82 years old.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her husband of 63 years, George Mitchell.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents, Gustave E. Newman and Bennie Mae “B’La” M. Newman; and two brothers, Gustave Newman Jr. and Virgil E. Newman.
Mrs. Mitchell was a proud wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her husband, George; five children, Stephanie M. Dean of Fredericksburg, Va., Cheryl M. McCollum of Alpharetta, Ga., Michael S. “Mickey” Mitchell of Tallahassee, Fla., Debra “Debbie” M. Gamblin of Brandon and Mark S. Mitchell of Vicksburg; one brother, Bryan “Sonny” M. Newman of Clinton; and two sisters, Doris Stevens of Brandon and Frances “Sis” Beales of Summerville, S.C.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mitchell spent her life dedicated to her family and community. For 11 years she served as president of the Cedars Lions Club of Vicksburg and worked for 30 years planning and coordinating weddings.
Mrs. Mitchell will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Monday with Trisagian Prayers at 6 p.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral will be at St. George Orthodox Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Pallbearers will be David Mitchell, Brian Mitchell, Jeffrey Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, Wayne Massad and Danny Harmon.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cedars Ladies Club, Dr. Daniel Edney, Dr. Henry “Mac” Jarmon, Clarence A. Sims, Elias Rantisi, John Nosser Jr., Tom McCollum, Rick Gamblin, Ricky Mitchell, Joey Mitchell, Mikey Mitchell, Woody Abraham Jr., Arnold Dean Jr., Pete “Rocky” Nosser Jr., Michelle Chambliss, Becky Caruthers, Kim Mitchell, Charlene Moore, Belynda Mitchell and Tanya Mitchell.
Larry Blaine Rogers
Larry Blaine Rogers died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, at Hospices Center in Ridgeland. He was 55.
Mr. Rogers was a native of McComas, W. Va. He lived in Vicksburg for the last 16 years.
He is survived by his wife, Charisse B. Rogers of Redwood; two daughters, Sarah Rogers of Danville, Pa., and Chelsea Griffin of Atlanta; his parents, Larmer and Ruby S. Rogers; two sisters, Kim Rogers and Susan Rogers of West Virginia; three brothers, Keith Rogers of North Carolina and Mike Rogers and Barry Rogers, both of West Virginia.

Carol Stout Wilkerson
Carol Stout Wilkerson died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at her home. She was 87.
Born in Shreveport, La., she had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 58 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Wilkerson; a son, John Scott Wilkerson; her parents, John William Howell and Annie Smith Howell; a sister, Paula Conrad; a great-granddaughter, Megan Ann Mims and a grandson-in-law, Bubba Mims. She was a member of the Vicksburg Church of Christ.
Ms. Wilkerson is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Solomon of Vicksburg; a son, John Howell Stout of Vicksburg; three sisters, Jackie Lorenson and Jane Mullins, both of Southaven, and Jo Ann McNicholas of Palos Heights, Ill.; two brothers, Smith Howell of Southaven and John Howell Jr. of Memphis; nine grandchildren, Cindy Fumbanks, Karen Mims, Suzanne Stabler and Stephanie Wilson, all of Vicksburg, Steven Solomon of Southaven, Felicia Wilkerson of and Viridiana Wilkerson, both of California, and Charlie Wilkerson and Joslin Wilkerson, both of Massachusetts; nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg with the Revs. John Gardner and Tony Lalli officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
Pallbearers will be Jason Barnes, Steven Soloman, Robby Stabler, Louis Fumbanks, Gerald Mims, Doug Wilson and Wade Hammack.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Speyerer, Mattie Hill, Mary Jackson, Judd Mims, Hugh Allen, Chestley Nash, Grover Sanders, Bill Welshans, Dr. Susan Chiarito, elders and deacons of the Vicksburg Church of Christ and the employees of the Heritage House.
