A Vicksburg toddler is dead after what Vicksburg police are calling an accidental drowning that occurred at a Vicksburg residence.
Dylan Blanch, 3, 4979 Mount Alban Road, was found in a spa hot tub connected to a swimming pool outside a home at 2901 Drummond St., around 10 a.m., Jeff Merritt of the Vicksburg Police Department said.
The residents of the Drummond Street home, who discovered him in the water, were babysitting Blanch at the time of the incident.
“They are friends of the family and they have been babysitting him for several months,” Merritt said.
Dylan, the son of Trey and Amanda Phillips, was taken to River Region Medical Center after the incident. He was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 11:15 a.m., Warren County Deputy Coroner Larry Chisley said.
An autopsy will be performed today at Mississippi Mortuary Service, Chisley added.
