Audrey L. Alamond
TALLULAH – Audrey L. Alamond died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Madison Parish Hospital. She was 53.
She was born in LaPorte, Ind., and had lived in Tallulah most of her life. She was a homemaker and member of Parkview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Wayne Alamond.
She is survived by two sons, David Wayne Alamond of Ellisville, Miss., and Keith Lane Alamond of Oak Grove; one daughter, Pattie Carr of Tallulah; two sisters, Vada McKinnie and Kathy Jobe, both of Tallulah; eight grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the church.
Pallbearers will be Louis Alamond, David Miles, Charles Jackson, Sonny Copes, Tim Jobe and Gary Gunn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Drs. Lawrence Cheniere, T.A. Neumann and L.P. Neumann Jr.
Harris Carmichael
UTICA – Mr. Harris Carmichael, 91, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at the Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland.
Mr. Carmichael was a lifelong resident of the Bear Creek Community in Hinds County. He was a graduate of Utica Consolidated High School and of Hinds Community College. He had been married to his wife, Marion, for 60 years. He was a retired merchant and farmer. He operated Harris Carmichael Store, which has been in operation for the family since 1898. He served on the Hinds County ACSC Community Board, Board of Directors of Bank of Utica. He was an active member of the Bear Creek Methodist Protestant Church and served as Sunday school superintendent. He served as treasurer of the Bear Creek Cemetery Association.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Pickett Carmichael of Utica; his son, Robert Carmichael of Jackson; his daughter, Nancy Tenhet of Utica; his sister, Mattie Leah Wilkinson of Jackson; two grandchildren, Cathy Walker of Collierville, Tenn., and Daniel Mobley of Cullman, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren, Greer Walker, Christian Carmichael Walker and Georgia Walker, all of Collierville.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bear Creek Methodist Protestant Church with the Rev. Billy Gerald officiating. Burial will be at the Bear Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica and from 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the hour of service.
Pallbearers will be Rob Harrell, Pat Houlihan, Bob Pickett, Jay Long, Earl Haley and Eddie Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Weston, J.C. Rush, Jim Long, Fred W. Anderson and Tim Metz.

James E. Freeman
James E. “Jim” Freeman died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 72.
Mr. Freeman was a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville. He served as president of F.S. Corporation in Jackson before owning and operating American Lenders Service Company of Jackson, Gulfport, Hattiesburg, Meridian and Natchez.
He was a charter member and president for 25 years of Mahanna Wildlife Hunting Association. He was a member and president of Backwoods Hunting Club and past president of Mims Mitchell Hunting Club.
Mr. Freeman served on various boards and as president of a number of community organizations, including the YMCA, Servian Club and Sertoma Club. He coached youth baseball for 18 years, winning the state championship a number of times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Lillian Pennebaker Freeman; and a son, Timothy John Freeman.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Evelyn Sims Freeman; one daughter, Sherry George of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sons, James E. “Jef” Freeman and Brandon Dax Freeman, both of Vicksburg, and Dale L. Freeman of Tampa, Fla.; three brothers, Clifford Freeman of New York, N.Y., John Freeman of Atlanta and Hunter Freeman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Penny McEwen of Tampa; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home’s Clinton Chapel. Burial will follow at Edwards Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 tonight.

Oren Reeves
Oren “Cookie Man” Reeves died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at River Region West Campus. He was 75.
A native of Oktibbeha County, Mr. Reeves was the son of the late Jonathan C. and Velma Griffith Reeves. He had lived in Vicksburg since 1949. He was a route salesman for 45 years before retiring.
He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife, Ila M. Reeves of Vicksburg; four sons, Bryan Reeves of Eureka, Ill., Keith Reeves of Vicksburg, Curtis Reeves of Hazlehurst and Randall Reeves of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Birdie Dugan of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two brothers, J.C. Reeves and Clyde Reeves, both of Vicksburg; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vicksburg Church of Christ with Cecil May Jr. and Paul Walden officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Fisher Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Stan Woodson, Jerry Miller, Roy Wade, Mike Crawford, Patrick Smith and Jerry Goings.
Honorary pallbearers will be elders of Vicksburg Church of Christ, Carl Finney and staff members of the River Region Cardiac Unit.

Barley Smith
Barley Smith died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 88.
Born in Oak Grove, Mr. Smith was a longtime resident of Vicksburg. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee and was also employed by Strong’s of Vicksburg.
He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Butts Smith; and a son, Donald Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Richmond of Vicksburg; one brother, C.E. Smith of Richland; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church from 2 p.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Bill Collins, John Mauck, Jim Veasey, Lennell Clanton, Richard Blush and Junius Williams.
Marcus Troy Stewart
Marcus Troy Stewart died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 84.
Mr. Stewart was a former resident of Pelzer, S.C., and Red Lick. He retired from Westinghouse Company in Vicksburg and was a retired deacon from Wayside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Daniel and Marvin Louiza Stewart; his wife, Hazel May Stewart; five brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynda J. Stewart of Charleston, S.C., and Sandra S. Clark of Vicksburg; three sons, Melvin R. Stewart and Daniel W. Stewart, both of Vicksburg, and Kenneth W. Stewart of New Orleans; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Cranridge Cemetery in Lorman with Caley Nichols officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Eugene Walker
Eugene Walker died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at Promise Specialty Hospital of Vicksburg. He was 85.
Mr. Walker was a retired Postal worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eliad D. Walker and Eddie Walker; his wife, Annie Lee Walker; and two brothers, Johnnie Walker and L.J. Walker.
He is survived by two daughters, Willie Mae Hunter of Vicksburg and Ester R. Frazier of Kirkwood, Mo.; one brother, Clarence Walker of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
