Mary Baldwin
Services for Mary Baldwin will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baldwin died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 93.
Mrs. Baldwin was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hannah Bankston, and a son, J.B. Baldwin.
She is survived by three sons, Douglas Baldwin Jr. of Hollandale, Cleo Baldwin of Vicksburg and Calvin Baldwin of Greenville; six daughters, Johnnie Louise Bennett, Mary Lee Jones and Barbara Walters, all of Chicago, Velma Hill of Vicksburg, Dorothy Barnum of Greenville and Shirley Jackson of Utah; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Rosalean B. Hicks
Rosalean B. Hicks died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 90 and a retired cook at Mister C’s Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Hicks; parents, Lillie and Peter Bolden; a son, Earl Bolden; two nephews, Brian and Delano Howard; Crawford Mims Sr. and Betty and Crawford Mims Jr.; 10 sisters; and four brothers.
She is survived by two daughters, Lurline Hicks Green of Vicksburg and Jurline Hicks Howard of Detroit; a sister, Martha Bailey of Brooklyn, N.Y.; six grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including members of the Mims, Smith, Parson, Murphy, Bell and Williams families.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
Rutha Mae King
Services for Rutha Mae King will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Kemp Burley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. King died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 57.
Mrs. King was a retired cook at St. Francis Xavier Elementary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Bell and Mabel Barnes.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph King; two daughters, Pamela King Shaw and Lisa King, both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Carolyn Boyd of Detroit; five brothers, Jimmy Barnes, Edward Barnes, David Barnes, Ricky Barnes and Albert Barnes, all of Detroit; a special friend, Charles Goods of Vicksburg, and other relatives.
Katherine Gordon McCarley
PORT GIBSON – A memorial service will be held at the Port Gibson Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, for Katherine Gordon McCarley. She died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at her home in Austin, Texas. Family will be at the church by 1:30 for visitation.
Born in Vicksburg, Katherine (Kate) spent her childhood in Port Gibson. She attended Randolph Macon Woman’s College and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin.
Preceded in death by her father, H.S. (Mac) McCarley, she is survived by her mother, Ellen McCarley of Port Gibson; two sisters, Ellen Hancock of Columbia and Isabelle Nichols of Tchula; a nephew, Lance Hancock of Gulfport; and a niece, Katie Walley of Hattiesburg.
A celebration of Kate’s life will be held at 5 p.m. today at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden in Austin.
In lieu of flowers, make a donation to a favorite charity.
Eugene Walker
Services for Eugene Walker will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Nix officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service.
Mr. Walker died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at Promise Specialty Hospital of Vicksburg. He was 85.
Mr. Walker was a retired postal worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eliad D. Walker and Eddie Walker; his wife, Annie Lee Walker; and two brothers, Johnnie Walker and L.J. Walker.
He is survived by two daughters, Willie Mae Hunter of Vicksburg and Ester R. Frazier of Kirkwood, Mo.; one brother, Clarence Walker of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
