Weather plays havoc with most local sports events|[11/16/05]

Tuesday’s round of severe weather not only brought cold air to the area, but a halt to the high school sports schedule as well.

Warren Central’s home basketball games with Hazlehurst and Vicksburg’s soccer games at Callaway were all postponed. No makeup dates have been set.

And St. Aloysius pushed its home soccer opener against Brookhaven back two days. The Lady Flashes will take the field at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with the boys’ game to follow.

The St. Aloysius basketball teams traveled to Loyd Star, with the Lady Flashes winning and the Flashes falling.

Sarah Kerut scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Annie Beaugh scored 15 and grabbed nine rebounds as the Lady Flashes (2-0) beat Loyd Star, 50-48. Amy Beaugh poured in nine points and had nine assists in the victory.

In the boys game, Chase Smith scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but the Flashes (1-1) couldn’t overcome a 32-23 hafltime deficit and fell to Loyd Star 69-49.
