Ethel Mae Stampley Barrow

NEW ORLEANS – Ethel Mae Stampley Barrow died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fayette. She was 72.

Mrs. Barrow was a resident of New Orleans, where she was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall H. Stampley and Ethel West Robinson; a sister, Alberta Snow; and two brothers, Charles Robinson and Jessie &#8220Bo” Stampley Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Lionel Barrow of New Orleans; four sons, Kirk Barrow of Massapequa, N.Y., and Keith Barrow, Michael Barrow and Mark Barrow, all of New Orleans; one daughter, Michelle Barrow of New Orleans; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in New Orleans with Clayton Pinkins Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. Friday at Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Pallbearers will be Kirk Barrow, Michael Barrow, Jesse Veal, Bruce Pinkins, Shedrick King and Derrick King.

Celestine Carter

CARY – Celestine &#8220Stella” Carter died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 79.

A lifelong resident of Sharkey County, Mrs. Carter was retired. She had been a member of Mount Buria M.B. Church of Cary for 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Annie Mae Wells; one son, Ernest Carter; one daughter, Paula Carter; one brother, David Wells Jr.; and three sisters, Nettie Bonner, Emma Coleman and Carrie Glasper.

Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Woodard of Chicago, Mary Ann Davis of Alcorn State and Joyce Norton of Killeen, Texas; two sons, Lawyer Carter and Donald Carter, both of Cary; and 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Cary with the Rev. Charlie Cesare officiating. Burial will follow at Cary Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork and Saturday at the church until the hour of the service.

Leonard Ragans

EDWARDS – Services for Leonard &#8220Bee” Ragans will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Baptist Church in Edwards with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Church Cemetery in Bovina.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday at Robbins Funeral Home.

Mr. Ragans died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 49.

Mr. Ragans was a longtime resident of Edwards. He served in the Army and was a member of United Baptist Church in Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Caldonia Ragans, and a brother, Andrew Ragans Jr.

He is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Hudson and Pearlie Norris, both of Edwards, and Geneva Wilson of Vicksburg; two brothers, John Willie Ragans and Walter Ragans, both of Edwards; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
