Lucille Williams Thomas Davis
Lucille Williams Thomas Davis died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in Chicago. She was 52.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by a daughter, Tranelle Tracy Williams; her parents, Richard and Lucille Byrd Davis; a brother, Robert Davis; and a sister, Delores Lee.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Thomas of Chicago; two sons, James Williams Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Jessie Williams of Augusta, Ga.; five sisters, Eveline Gray, Doris Davis Patton, Diane Davis Washington, Rosie Davis Harris and Demetris Davis Gray, all of Vicksburg; nine brothers, Luke Lee, Leroy Watson, Jimmie Davis, Jessie Davis, Milton Davis and Ricky Ross, all of Vicksburg, Frank Davis of Edwards, Richard Davis of Kinder, La., and Willie Davis of Oakland, Calif.; three grandchildren; and other relatives, including Albert Davis of Chicago and members of the Davenport, Slaughter, Wilson, Bivens and Roberts families.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Johnnie Frank Harris
UTICA – Johnnie Frank Harris died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, in Marrero, La. He was 40.
Mr. Harris was a painter at Tasch Shipyard.
He was a former resident of Utica.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Michael Womack officiating. Burial will follow at Old White Cemetery in Carpenter.
Visitation will be until 6 tonight at the funeral home.
Willie Lee Herring
EDWARDS – Willie Lee Herring died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 80.
A lifelong resident of Edwards, Mr. Herring was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Charlie and Laura Herring.
He retired from Anderson-Tully Lumber Company after 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Willie L. Martin Jr., Donald Ray Herring and Herman L. Martin; four brothers, Charlie Herring Jr., Thaddeus Herring, Eddie Herring and Ether Herring; and two sisters, Bernice Herring and Marie H. Tillman.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Herring of Edwards; four sons, Glen C. Martin, Willie C. Herring, Charles Herring and Earnest Herring, all of Edwards; four daughters, Sharon H. Richardson, Dorothy H. Sims and Bertha H. Mack, all of Edwards, and Princess M. Nailor of Vicksburg; three sisters, Louise H. Hunter of Gary, Ind., Bertha H. Adams of Edwards and Geneva Stallings of San Francisco; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Anna C. Robinson of Edwards.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Morning Star Baptist Church in Learned with Pastor Willie L. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
J. Stanford Terry Jr.
Joseph Stanford Terry Jr. died on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at his residence. He was 84.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal, 900 South St., Vicksburg, with the Rev. Michael Nation, rector, and the Rev. Clifton Mclnnis, rector emeritus, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with full military honors. Services are under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home and at the Mclnnis Parish Hall of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Episcopal, from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of the service.

A native of Greenville, Mississippi, Mr. Terry was born on Nov. 21, 1921, to Joseph Stanford Terry, Sr. and Kathleen Gist Terry. A graduate of Greenville High School, he received his bachelor of business degree and his juris doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi. He was active in student affairs, serving as a member and president of Phi Delta Theta Social Fraternity. Mr. Terry was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Fraternity.
At the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the Army, serving as a staff sergeant in the 84th Division, 1st Battalion, 335th Infantry Regiment. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and other campaigns. He was wounded twice while serving in the European Theatre of War.
Mr. Terry is the recipient of Combat and Infantryman badges, the Silver Star for Outstanding Bravery, the EAME Campaign Medal with two Bronze Battle Stars and the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
Following the war, Mr. Terry began his professional career as an attorney in Vicksburg with the late Uriah Grey Flowers. He presided as city judge for Vicksburg in the 1950s and at that time was associated with the Katzenmeyer, Katzenmeyer and Terry Law Firm. He later joined Dent, Ward, Martin and Terry Law Firm, where he was senior partner for many years.
He was a member of the Warren County, the Mississippi and the American Bar associations. Mr. Terry was a Mississippi Bar Foundation Law Fellow, a member of the American Adjudication Society and in 1999 was honored at the Mississippi Bar Association’s annual convention for 50 years of law practice in Mississippi.
During his business career, Mr. Terry served in many leadership positions in community, civic, educational and charitable activities. He was a director of the Merchants National Bank for 40 years and had served as chairman of the executive committee. In 1971 he was elected president of the Magnolia Hotel Company that owned the Hotel Vicksburg, the Magnolia Motel & Restaurant and the Delta Point River Restaurant.
An enthusiastic leader, he was a past president of the Vicksburg Kiwanis Club and active in the Andrew Jackson Boy Scout Council. He was a member of the Newcomen Society of North America and a past president of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Terry was the recipient of the Jaycees Distinguished Service Award and was voted Vicksburg’s Man of the Year.
Active in the Episcopal Church, Mr. Terry served as a Licensed Lay Reader, Vestryman, Junior Warden and Senior Warden of Christ Episcopal Church. At the time of the Vicksburg tornado in 1953, he was awarded a plaque from the parishioners of Christ Episcopal Church for his work in rebuilding the church steeple.
Mr. Terry was an avid sportsman and gardener. He was a member of the Vicksburg Hunting Club, Tri County Hunting Club and was a member of the Long Lake and Lake Claiborne associations.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Frances Dent Terry, of Vicksburg, one daughter, Marilyn Dent Terry of Westminster, Colo.; two sons, Joseph Stanford Terry III and his wife, Sallie, of Brandon, and Robert Dent Terry and his wife, Georgia, Westminster, Colo.; his grandchildren, Mary Jennifer Terry, Stanford B. Terry, Mary Elizabeth Terry, Katharine Dent Terry and Anna Gray Terry; one sister, Frances Terry Gage of Ridgeland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robert “Bobby” Amborn, Robert R. “Bobby” Bailess, Joe Harris, Todd Horn, Bobby D. Robinson, Max Maxwell, Oliver “Pete” Stone and Wren Way.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Barrett, Vincent Bonelli, Joe Bottino, Bill Harris, Dr. Lee Giffin, Charles Koestler III, Hays Latham, Bobby Raines, Bill Madison, Tom Ramsey, Lynn Smith, Dr. John C. Williams, Leroy Williams and members of the Warren County Bar Association.
